Possibly a person who is too big for a stock one.

We are in the market for a large cruiser.

Step 1.
The St. Francis 50 has a very generous 2 person shower with a very, very useful bench. We consider it essential: you can store several cases of wine and rum on and below the bench and still get to the forward locker. For showering we use the transom.

Re: The two person shower

Thanks

I will look at that.

Considering the spec list is long I put an earlier Bavaria on the list because it is a Farr design with space to remodel. The newer Bavarias are no longer built as well for crossings.

So Bavaria cruiser 56, Hylas 56, and Amel.

Will look into the Cat and the St Francis.

Thanks

In general out of a VERY LONG SPEC LIST, the two person shower is the hardest.

Keep in mind a very well known boat is sailing with 2400 watts of solar panels. Good idea. ( something similar)
Not being a Cat I thought an Amel super maramu 2000 would only accommodate fewer solar panels.

My list even has a fish finder, as a want. We will see if it fits.

For the more concrete, I am not looking for a sailboat with a fish finder. There are no sailboats with fish finders. That item is indicative of the huge list of must haves.

Other key items, lithium batteries, echo pilot, Ac/Heat and so on. An already built boat comes with most of the things on the list.

I will check back in a few days. Now I have to go pay for this stuff. Bigger toys.

With solar, hydro and wind, freezers will replace most of the cans.

Sailboats do have fish finders- Installed by persons who like the easy access to food and the bottom contours- the bottom contours being critical for exploring places that charts are dubious or 100 years old.

Your list seems like it is made without a great deal of realistic boatowner and cruiser experience.

Re: The two person shower

Echopilot is on the list as already noted.

Re: The two person shower

I pulled up the Echopilot.

Forward looking sonar

I personally programmed it in the correct voice to say DANGER WILL ROBINSON. We can change that prn. ( this is the joke part)

_____

https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com/us/shop/fish-finders/helix/helix-7-chirp-gps-g4n

I am not sure I will get this one. They can’t seem to spell.

This is cool.

CHIRP stands for “Compressed High Intensity Radar Pulse.” It probably also chirps.

And the transducer goes on the transom. Don’t ask me, ask the humminbird.

The note that you put the transducer on the keel reminds me of the time this whostruckjohn told me to put TCE in my engine.

Without missing a beat, I said you don’t want that. WSJ said, oh, you know about that.

Now I have to go and pay for this stuff.

Re: The two person shower

I confirmed the MOODY DS 54 is properly laid up even though it is a Hanse brand.

Moody remembered. It is glue and fiberglass, not just glue. Yo buddy you forgot the fiberglass. It is fiberglass and glue, not just glue alone.

And one single birth goes. Perfect workout room.

Two part epoxy is glue. So are the other chemicals. They will not feel bad if you call them glue.

It sticks two things together, so they are all glue.

The Jeanneau 55 directly from the brochure.

EXTERIOR Construction
• Vacuum infused hull. Solid laminate in keel area. Barrier coat used to guard against osmosis.
• Glued hull counter-mould
• Infused deck and contact counter-
mould
• L-shaped cast iron keel
• Twin rudders with self-aligning roller
bearings

Everyone knows to ask about the hull construction. Most do not know to ask about the lay up or gluing of the stringers.

Glued hull center mould

Until someone tells me otherwise, glue means glue and not fiberglass and glue to attach the center mould to the boat.

Center mould is the stringers

Beneteau does do that and the boat is 20000 pounds. This boat is 40000 pounds. That means twice the force will hit the stringers when you run aground.

I am putting this out there for comment. Glue means glue. The salesman sent me a picture of the hull. It looked like the center mould was glued to me on the picture.

The bloke already came on and said the laminate and veneer are made in Italy. That means they take plywood, Italian plywood and attach a thin Italian veneer.

As an Italian American I am upset.

Hard wood is thick

Veneer is shaved off hardwood.

I still would like to know all the boats whose “center mould” is glued.

See the series of videos linked above on the repair to a Hanse whose stringers we see in the videos are glued.

Now I have to go and pay for these toys.

Re: The two person shower

So you want a hardwood interior and not plywood? What boats are you looking at with a hardwood interior? The Moody is plywood, the Amel is plywood, an Oyster is plywood....

Re: The two person shower

Just got a return text from Tony the Jeanneau salesman confirming they glue the stringers into the boat.

Text available prn

If the Jeanneau 55 stringers are glued ….. about the rest of the Beneteau and Jeanneau fleet?

I do not need to ask.

I am asking about Moody 54 DS however. A reviewer wrote about the hull but not knowing did not write about the stringers. I have to check at a primary source.

Re: The two person shower

Lions and Tigers, and Bears OH MY!!!

THE Wicked Witch of the North is alive and wants to sell me a glued stringer system.

But sir it is only a million dollars for this beautiful sailboat

In the past I had written to the CHIEF SALES WOMAN for Beneteau North America and she did not answer me.
