What is this furler? It's from '77

I have a '77 Pearson 365 and this unusual looking furler came with it. I can't find any identification on it, name or manufacturer. Someone in my marina suggested an old Hood Seafurl but that's definitely not it.

Can anyone identify what make this roller furling is, I am looking for a manual for it.

So, begin by hitting the "post reply" button. There is a tiny paperclip in the bar directly above the box here. It will open a "manage attachments" box and will show you 6 "browse" buttons. Pick one and you should see where your photo is stored and you can "open" it. Then you must hit the "upload" button and then wait a minute for it to show up on this page down below where it says "attach files" and lo and behold you should see your photo show up when you hit "submit reply" like this one:

I think its a Famet.

It is an old Famet, I have one on my Aloha 8.2 and I think I do have a manual somewhere but it will take a while to find where it is. Pm me with contact info and I will copy it and mail it to you when I find it. There is a chain that wraps around that sprocket and you use a large hex wrench to tighten the halyard. There is a guy who has a bunch of parts in his garage, I bought a foil section from him to replace one that got bent.

Thank you, Clockwork Orange. I would love to have anything you can find. I have observed the chain and the whole thing looks super sturdy. I haven't got a jib at present so I don't know how well it works.

I have only used this furler a couple of times and it worked just fine. I have a partner in this boat and I don't really use it. When we bought the boat for salvage the furler had 2 bent foil sections, we straightened on and were able to buy one new section. It works the same as the Alado furlers you see advertised a lot online in that they have their own halyard. I like this type of furler as they are dead simple without being over engineered for the purpose like most of the common ones. Alado are an excellent furler with the best foil I have ever seen.
When we bought the boat and like you did not know what brand we had and if we could get parts we were going to buy a new one but when I did find out what we had I found glowing reports from everyone who owned one so we kept it.

I would guess it's a stream stay. I'd replace it. Lots of internal issues. Any further from this age has outlived it's use.

I found out that it is a Famet and read a lot of positive feedback on them. Now I'm glad to have it. Problem is not being able to find the company. What I found out is they were still around in 2010 after changing hands and then back to original owner. That's as far as I got. I'd like to be able to get parts and possibly a manual. Can anyone out there she'd some light?

After reading lots of report of trouble free use for even up to 30 years and still going fine, I'll be happy to keep it. Just because it's a very simple design doesn't mean newer more complicated ones are better. Before advising prospective boat buyers against one, please read up on it. You may be surprised.
