The double diamond shown on the rigging schematic, should they not overlap? With both diamonds only 'touching' each other the mast would see quite a bit of bending moment in this location. If you see what I mean?

Maybe this was already discussed earlier.

your instinct is correct.

The double diamonds do overlap. The top diamond exists, and the lower diamond starts within the bottom half of the top diamond.

I’ve never seen anything different.

Maybe I drew it wrong in one of those freehand sketches. It’s possible. I was trying to make a different point because so many people didn't understand the rig.

A lot of people were thinking the diamond spreaders had something to do with the shrouds.

I have seen it the same since the drawing you did in post 2#.

Another thing I see Chotu, in post 3# , there are 2 photos, one supposedly is the mast step, and the other? I say this because what you have bolted to the deck with 4 screws, is the plate with 2 lugs, I guess the other is tucked into the mast, the mast is going to rest on top of the bolts?

Nahhh , I have already seen it clearer, there are 4 holes.

that’s what I’m saying. I probably drew it wrong in the sketch. Because I wasn’t really focusing on the diamonds I was focusing on how people thought the spreaders had something to do with the shrouds. The diamonds were like an afterthought in that sketch.

And yes. At the bottom where you say you have already seen it more clear with four holes you are correct.

Rubber grommet where the wires come out of the mast?

For future reference: I found this other video showing the frapping knot as used on a shroud lashing. This is from the instructions of Kraken Structures deadeyes.

When he is doing the actual frapping, is he just doing complete circles around the 20 wraps as he's passing the frapping line through the middle? It's hard to tell because it's a video and not a drawing. And there is only one camera angle.

At least this was a well done video though. I’m thankful the dog was just in the background and not part of the story lol

thanks for digging it up and putting it in here. I like the technique in general. You can really get some tension on there without even having turnbuckles.

Yes, followed by frapping turns of the frapping knot then hitches.

What I like about this video is how you see the lashing in action while tightening and how to distribute the tension over the turns.

I will probably do my lashings for the solar array differently, tensioning from both ends of the lashing simultaneously… like they do on Wharram cats.

Re: Chotu’s Advanced Standing Rigging Thread (lots of pics)

I have a missing double jaw toggle.

It's for the lowers, to connect them to the mast which just has a tang.

The pins are 5/8" in this toggle that I do have, but the gap between the faces of the toggle is 3/4".

I can only find 5/8" toggles with 5/8" pins and a 5/8" gap or 3/4" pins with a 3/4" gap.

No idea what's going on here. The hardware I do have is ronstan.

Can't seem to find the same thing anywhere. Has anyone seen one?

Are you saying you used to have one and now you don’t?

Sorry if that wasn't clear.

I have one and I'm missing one. I need a second one for the other shroud

Did you forget about me... ?
Sorry been a bit quiet, wrapping up a few big projects, and prepping for the boat show">Annapolis boat show, and dealing with the release of the Zeus... so just been skimming these threads lately.

My Blue Wave DJT with 5/8 pins has a 25/32" jaw gap. That's slightly over 3/4.

Had no idea that I could get literally anything from you.

I was thinking it was more like a one off thing when you got me the Martingale stay.

But yes I might need to order one of those and have it rushed up here. I think the crane is coming next week. So I would like to hopefully get that on so I don’t have to go aloft later to change it

Let me double and triple check all of that for measurements and reach out to you first thing Monday morning to place the order.

Have you been to our website? Haha. We sell internationally, from individual rigging parts, to watermakers, complete rerigs, electrical and electronics packages, solar panels, lithium batteries, air conditioners, alternator regulators, etc etc etc. www.theyachtrigger.com

All good. I guess I we need to work on our advertizing/messaging.
System says I have 27 of those toggles in stock. Just send me an email, or better yet, email "orders@theyachtrigger.com and they will process it. Part 250016, page 48 in the catalog here: https://theyachtrigger.com/wp-conten..._catalogue.pdf
