You are right! So I've gone to some inside sources. It seems most bronze come out of the Far East now due to pollution factors in manufacturing. Some comes from china and other from India.

Here are some US distributors: Square Head Plug Fittings - Bronze and Brass, NPT

Brass Fittings - Fittings and Nipples

Pipe Plug - 1 1/2" Male NPT - Bronze* - *Bronze & Brass Fittings* - *Plumbing Fittings* - *Plumbing* - *Downwind Marine Inc

Bronze Square Head Plug 3/4 (B0000AXQZS)

And any of these others............... Pipe Plugs in Northern Ohio (OH) on ThomasNet.com

I was specifically referring to bronze nipples, plugs, elbows reducers and such are easy. Here's the deal yellow brass & red brass are extruded and as such nipples are easy to cut and thread.

For what ever reason "no zinc" bronze is not extruded by anyone currently. As such that requires nipples be cast then machined as Groco has done (read expensive). I currently don't know any other supplier or manufacturer of seacock grade (no zinc) bronze nipples other than Groco..

Well! Here's my dilemma.

I ordered bronze 90degree street elbows and it turns out they are not NPT but NPS. Now I can't fit them to my 1" Jabsco saltwater cooling water pump because its NPT. This is so frustrating trying to get it right and dealing with companies from over the water and across the mainland. Its probably my fault for ordering the wrong item but I didn't see any options and didn't foresee the problem (dummy).

Question: Can they be made to fit?
If I find a plumber with a 1" NPT die could he turn them down for me?

Kind regards,
JohnL

To SkiprJohn:

An NPS thread can be converted to an NPT thread. Simply put, the NPS thread pattern is where ALL the threads are the largest diameter thread allowed for NPS. NPT threads start at a lower value (diameter) and over less than 1" distance reach the maximum diameter (the NPS diameter). You can get someone with the appropriate tap or die to make the change from NPS to NPT. Or you could get the tools and do it yourself.

All the bronze from China is really suspect. I've used them but don't trust them to be real bronze.

Groco makes some in real bronze but they're quite expensive.

I eventually found mine on eBay.. A seller out of Lauderdale who had some in a warehouse.. He is still selling 2-3" pipe nipples there.. Ask him a question and he will reply. Maybe he has what your looking for.. Don't compromise.. I didn't and eventually got what I was looking for and low money too.. Good Luck.
