My last experiment with this can be found in the bottom of the (still smoldering) hole next to my workshop. The ammeter registered 17,000 amps for a millisecond before it vaporized.

Stovetop toasters work fine for propane, kerosene Primus etc. but it's the "keep an eye on" part where I sometimes lose it. The pan toasting technique is more forgiving. You can also use the propane torch from the tool kit. Just keep pasting back and forth until it's just right.

I've tried two different toasters with a 1000 watt generator. Each on its own just about max's out the amps. So now it's the pan.

And a electric coffee pot pulls its fair share too. So i went to a ss stove top percolator.

We have the wire type "camp toaster" and we usually boil water in a kettle to make "Bodum coffee", which some call a French press.

If I feel like farting around, we have a tiny stovetop/"camping" espresso maker, but it's a lot of farting around for three ounces of espresso per cycle.

This reminds me of a great book I was given years ago : Manifold Destiny. Great recipes for using the heat from your engine to safely cook just about anything - toast included.

We use our propane stern mounted BBQ.
