Do just once what others say you can't do, and you will never pay attention to their limitations again.--Capt. James Cook

Re: What is Your Favorite Quote?

This is one I like to use for my sailing friends who pass on into the next Ocean...

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Old Danish sayings:

It is one thing to be able to read a sea chart, it another to skipper the boat.

And one for all of us to remember:

"Only a fool fears not the ocean"

Travelnik,

Did you read his book? His life was not all money and glamor. He came from poverty early in life and sort of fell into the movie industry, which in the end he came to despise. A lot of his book is about trying to reconcile the problems he had in hollywood/politics with the simple life he had led before getting into that rats nest. He had seen both poverty and riches, but still chose to make that statement. Given that he had seen both sides, wouldn't you think his viewpoint is even more relevant?

Bad seamanship has sunk more boats than bad weather ever thought about sinking.

Just for the purpose of attributing this properly, "Gandolf" and the qoute belong to John Ronald Ruel Tolkein. Check post #29. ....but, of course, in the final analysis I'm moved by the same words as you!
