I read your comments about the Baha Dash and would love to have a copy of the Cruising World article you mentioned. I'm considering buying a Islander Freeport 36 in Panama and sailing/motoring it back home to Vancouver and reading everything I can find. I'll check out your blog as well.

is there anchorage near Grand Marina in the Alameda Estuary. Can you pin-pint exactly where? provide nearby address of GPS coordinates? I do not need to go to shore.

    Dear Stu,
I live on Salt Spring Island, and am installing a new Beta 25 with 75 amp alternator as I speak. I would like your opinion on using my existing balmar mc-614 with this alternator for my 300 Ah house bank. Perhaps phone would be more efficient, if you are willing to chat with me. I am at 250 537 six seven zero three. I understand if you are swamped by this sort of request and cannot spare the time!
    Best Regards, Greg Slakov.

Hi stu, Just a hello, I spent Christmas to May teaching in Duncan and we did the circuit of Quamichan Lake a few times as a training run. Never quite made it down to the marina. Moving back to the Island this summer as my wife will be working in Port Renfrew.

    HI Stu,

My name is Al Thomas. I bought an 86 Catalina 34 last November! My boat is in San Diego West Marina. I love my boat. I demo sailed an 86 34 new in 86 but my wife at the time said NO. I made the mistake of taking my mother-in-law with us and she told my wife we should not buy it. Well I finally got what I wanted after all these years! My second wife encouraged me to buy the boat. She enjoys being on and sailing with me.

I am still learning the systems on my boat. It is in good shape for its age but does need some upgrades. The old instruments don't work at all and for some reason the aft water tank has been removed. Also my anchor light does not work and my VHF antenna is bent over and needs to be replaced. Lot of things to do.

I live in Las Vegas so only get down to my boat about once a month.

I was excited to see another '86 34 owner on the forum and wanted to say hi.

    I enjoy reading your comments.

Hi Stu, Alan Smith here in Vallejo. I see you moved your boat up to PNW. How was your journey up there? It seems like there was a lot of wind up there this year. I just wanted to meet you sometime. Because I know you are very well versed in Electrical and I wanted to get some mentoring on the design of how to put things like solar panels, Hondas, batteries, and things that consume power... Best of wishes to you Stu. Alan

Brother, I read many, many of your posts and its a shame you are only one person.
In saying that, I have no agenda. in fact I have never (Aussie slang, sorry..) pi.... (urinated) in a pocket in probably umm 55 years.
    Keep up the good work.
