Re: Fake Boats and motorbikes

Hunters and Beneteau's aren't loud and obnoxious. Hell most of us can't stand to hear that hunk of iron yammering away down below, much less the racket that comes from between your legs riding a Hardley-Ableson. You could not pay me to own and operate something that loud, heavy, and poorly engineered for the $. But that's just me, and I don't want to wake up my sleepy, rural "neighborhood". Although these 7.3 L diesels we run aren't that quiet either .....but they start and run every day on biodiesel, and do what they're supposed to.

I guess I could talk about anything at this point...

Nah, only one of the twins is a rider.

There you have it. The proof is in the pudding even girls dig Stroms -and looking good on it

It doesn't really matter what you have between your legs, it's how you control it
and the Fake Boats.

Don't know squat about sailboats, trying to learn there, bikes I know.
99 percent of Hardley riders are first afraid of sport bikes and think if they buy a Hardley that somehow or another makes them tough. Funny thing is the Bikers they are trying to emulate are at best thugs and thieves.
Just had to laugh, when I first went to Daytona bike week in the late 70's most of the people there were hardcore motorcycle people, the guys on Harley's for the most part were hardcore bikers (there's a difference). The next time I went was in 2001 and most of the guys on Harley's were dentists, insurance salesmen and orthodontists, a little different from the Marlon Brandon image.
I still have a 1971 Triumph, fun for short hops, not for long rides, even rode from RI to California on one when I was 19, sold it there and hitchhiked back to RI, it was easier than riding that thing another mile. Still ride sportbikes, but that's my choice, just like boats, it doesn't matter what your ride is as long as your out there doing it. I've owned a sailed some pretty basic boats, I now have a really nice cruising boat, I've had just as much enjoyment out of all of them, it seems many of us like things that lean over.

Re: Fake Boats?

I once had a Sporty, but I ended up pushing it far more than riding it, that pretty much soured me on Harleys, I do like the Victory bikes now.

Re: Fake Boats?

Once in a Blue Moon, I get the feeling I might want to ride a Hardley. So I throw a wet pair of tennis shoes in the dryer and sit on it for awhile and I get my Harley fix.

Eric Buell used to build a really decent bike, too bad it was handicapped with that engine, Ya'll know the story of the Buell don't ya?

Re: Fake Boats?

What's the term " sports bike " meant to convey in the US. Does it include some of the big jap touring bikes ? .

if you take a look at where I am, 28516, there are several military bases close by. We have Marines out the ying yang, we got yer Delta g d force, we got ... it all. SEAL teams dive here for fun.

And where ya got active duty troops, ya got a bunch of retirees...aka...old farts.

The young stud jet pilots, to a man, ride sports bikes.

The retirees are making the transition from hogs to trikes.

It was just the way the term was being used , ie Harley's versus sport bikes. I mean there are a lot of quite agile big touring bikes , BMW , modern Trimuphs, jap stuff etc.

Re: Fake Boats?

Well if you are a true Harley guy I guess you see almost everything else as a sports bike. By the way sports bikes right now are on the decline. They started out not that many years ago as fast street bikes but evolved into true race bikes and are wonderful on the track but unless you are 20 something quite uncomfortable to ride for any period of time.

The true sports bikes I'd agree, even if your 20 something they aren't that comfortable, they are meant to be fast track bikes, but there are several liter superbikes that although quite powerful, won't circulate a track as quick as a true sportbike, but they can be very comfortable sport tourers. My CBR 1100XX although quite long in the tooth, is as comfortable on a long ride as anything.
Bikes are about the most mission specific transportation machines made
