Boats: Hmmm, sorry no sailboat yet, just a VIP, Invader cuddy, Sea Ray/sea raider.

GR8TRN - Yes that True North but red-not a live aboard but we manage for up to six weeks at a time up north.

Well, the Explorer is not exciting but does a great job of hauling: anchors, sails, tools, pressure washer, more tools. Basically I guess the Explorer is a tool. After all, how exciting is a screwdriver? Not very, but nice to have when you have to remove a screw.

Prius, hard to argue with 48 mpg. My wife drives a lot for work.

Wife said once I hit 60 I was too old to ride a bike. After a couple of cars almost ran me down I couldn't argue. But it did get 75 mpg.

I can see the resemblence in me boat and me car. Heavy, well powered, and reliable. The landcruiser has been the most reliable of the 3 land vehicles over the years.

We just bought a 2010 Golf TDI. Love it.
My other vehicle, vintage 2006, only has a turbo Yanmar 4JH3-TE.

Not buying the Prius thingie yet, your wife should have taken the Motorbike then if MPG was the thing. Surely she can't be more that 39!

In my mind, the cars and boats generally correspond – inexpensive, miserly, older and generally trustworthy although not always maintained with a flair esthetically pleasing to the masses…

BOAT: 16' Compac (1979) & 17' Clark Mills cat-rig daysailer/"picnic boat" (1960's sometime). Both on trailers in the yard, both bought cheap as "projects", only Compac being worked on right now.

CAR: 1996 Buick Century Stationwagon, & 1998 Ford Crown Victoria (ex-police car). Both bought used because they were cheap & get us from A to B (and the wagon is big enough to carry full-size sheets of plywood, or to sleep in comfortably, in the back).

Actually for 2 people we have five boats if you count dinghies.
1 Dragonfly 1000
2 inflatable Stearns kayaks
1 Avon 31.0 RIB
1 Capri 14.2k sailboat (for sale)

All my serious "toys" are in the DF1000. We now have a LAN with a Bullet M2 which gets us internet coverage in a big way, a Delta H2O Touch faucet at the galley, a Garmin touch screen radar/chart plotter, MPPT, solar, spectra, reefer, furnace, the works.
After all that, I don't mind driving my Geo and getting 49 mpg. Besides, I work at home and driving anywhere is almost an event.
