Re: Anyone have one of these Flexifold propellers?

Maybe your email turned them off. I used to run a small engineering company and frequently didn't bid on projects where the customer seemed too difficult to please. We had plenty of business so didn't mind passing on some.

My flexofold three bladed bronze props are the best props I've ever had - and no problems or maintenance for over 1000 engine hours (except for normal zincs) I wasn't surprised because before ordering I found a guy with the same boat with Flexofolds and talked to him. At that time they had a US dealer who got me the name. He'd gone with Flexofolds recommendations and they'd been right the first time. They are a bit overpropped and reach about 96% of Yanmar's spec. I talked to the guys at Mack Boring who said this would cause no damage to the engine and is probably is a better match for the engine torque at cruising RPM.

... plus boat show">London Boat Show and Düsseldorf BOOT are just over where they attended.

I will PM you a 'direct contact' at Flexofold in a second.

Carsten

Subscribed to the thread, apparently these are quite capable props.

Re: Anyone have one of these Flexifold propellers?

When I asked for a quote from them I also asked about recourse if they missed on the calculation, here's what Marlene Storm replied:

The recourse for you (as long as you don’t paint the propeller with antifoul or others) is that we switch the blades to a different pitch or if necessary diameter. And they must not have been into the water more than 7 days in order for us to clean up and re-sell!

Shipping would be my responsibility. Seemed fair but I bought a different prop so I can't add to the point of the calculation ability.

Emailing for leaving messages at FlexOFold is a waste of time. I tried that for months when wanted buy a prop.

You need to call over and over till you get a real person

Re: Anyone have one of these Flexifold propellers?

Yeah, agreed. Emailing is a waste of time unless you have a specific email addy. Carsten sent me the addy for Marlene but I've decided to take the cheap way out and rebuild my Max Props. PYI in Washington quoted me $800 to $1200 each prop for a complete, back to new specs rebuild so I'm going that route.

FWIW I in no way intended to slam FF, I just wanted to see what their response would be as they were a strong contender for my business. CarlF may be on the money as to why they have not responded.

I'm having same issue. How did your size/pitch of the factory-suggested 3 bladed flexofold compare to your original 2 bladed prop? My original 2 bladed prop was a 16X13 and flexofold factory suggested 16X11 3 bladed. I don't seem to be getting even comparable performance. Interested to hear your experience.

Re: Anyone have one of these Flexifold propellers?

Its been a while and this thread is pretty old but I thought I'd give an update.
I got Schiehallion lifted out about a month ago at Scarborough marina. I the hull 3 coats of the foul stuff, fixed a few little issues and mounted my new Flexofold prop.
If you interested here is a video about the whole process.

Since splashing I've sailed up to Gladstone and am currently waiting here impatiently for the easterlies to bugger off so I can sail up to Honiara.
The new boat is going much better than expected and I am more than happy with her. Actually feel really proud to own her!
The prop has worked well but i'm not seeing any increase in performance over the old one, which is fine but I can't help be slightly disappointed. Still, it does everything I need it to and this boat sails so well that I've only had the engine running for about 10 hours this last month.

Happy times.

Us too. Did they under-pitch you initially? We needed another 2 degrees.
