Just signed on a new 450s!

This is a L450 S discussion, someone must have placed a strong filter anti-L450 F ?

Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

Hey all, hope everyone is well. I’d thought I’d give a bit of an update as we’ve a few jobs ongoing on the boat at the mo.

1. There were 2 small hairline cracks in the grp decking on the Stbd side just by the front of the salon windows.

2. We’ve had an issue with dripping water coming thru the head lining inside the salon.

3. Corrosion at the welds on both front opening windows in the salon.

4. Water heater anode is still depleting.

5. New hob (cooktop) and oven install.

6. Near miss fire coming from battery bank.

7. New sofa in salon.

8. New Code Zero and 2:1 halyard.

There’s a load of other smaller ongoing jobs but the above are probably the most interesting.

1 - 4 are all being handled under warranty by Lagoon and seems to be going well. I’m pretty sure the internal water leak was caused by condensation finding its way to the highest point and then dripping down from the bolts that secure the blocks to the deck above. Lagoon haven’t been able to reproduce the leaks but are replacing the lining for me.

3. Both windows replaced.

4. Seems there’s no stray current so this is ongoing as I’ve now changed 2 anodes in 18 months.

5. New hob is in but I’m waiting to get the right gas fitting. Oven is being shipped this week I hope. We went for Smeg appliances.

6. I started another thread about the fire and I learned a lot about heat transfer thru fuses with high loads! Very lucky near miss tho, please take care with electrics.

7. The new sofa is AMAZING!!! I can’t recommend Angel in Cartagena enough. Pics will follow. We gave away all the lagoon ones and started from scratch. I fitted new bases that are 100mm deeper and we went with a thicker / softer foam for the base and back. Hayley of course chose the fabric and color.

8. I’m super excited about the new code zero which will hopefully be getting cut soon. I’ve gone BIG! 105m2 so hopefully we’ll be flying in the light Mediterranean winds. I’ve got my Facnor FX4500+ furler so I bought the 2:1 block to match and used my old 12mm main halyard. The sail is being cut fat enough to sail 110-120 degrees.

Hopefully I’ll have some pics next week for you of the salon.

Hi Dave, the job list just never gets shorter. I was recently quoted a 109sqm assym from Ullman Sails, where are you getting your Code 0 cut? Also as soon as Jen sees the Oven pics my job priorities will change i'm sure, thanks for that.

Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

Hello Dave,

Is Lagoon addressing the warranty issues where you are now? We have a few things they need to look at too, and will be in the Cartagena area next month or so. How is their service there and who do they use?

Cheers,

Yes, all being handled by the Lagoon dealer in Alicante. They’ve been great.

Good move. I’ve always been surprised how cheap these standard cook tops, installed by all boat builders. It pulls down the whole impression of the galley
You picked a good looking one.

What do you use for fiddles to keep the pans on the stove? I've wanted to swap out the standard stove top for a domestic unit on our 450 but even with fairly small seas the pans slide off the stove without the fiddles in place.

I’m working on that at the mo. I plan to get 2 stainless rails made that fiddles can slide up and down to secure pans in a big sea. I can store the fiddles when not required. The cook top is flush to the worktop and the pan supports are cast iron so even if the pans do slide, they won’t tip over.Click image for larger version

Hey Dave. Thanks for the information and thanks to Haley for the videos. Did you consider going for an induction cook top?
