I was using Faransien GPS Gate but it wouldnt work.

So now I have to just use one program at a time. The programs will run fine together but only 1 can use the GPS at a time.

Now the screen on Opne Cpn goes black, the route multiplies and chart dissapears. Google Earth just goes white and freezes.

The main reson why its annoying is that I only use Google Earth when I am coming into anchorages... and thats just the time you don't want crashes

The program as a whole is working very well

1) Tide display still shows "today"/"tomorrow" every 7 days (past and future) from the current date. Trivial, but a bug!
A patch for the trivial bug. Works for me!

Thomas...

Thanks for the "today/tomorrow" patch. Looks fine, going in the code on new sync.

Do you have any opinion on the manual vs automatic quilt reference chart selection debate?

See the previous posts from Ptizef, idpnd, etc.

Dave

I'm quite satisfied the way it's now. I like the option of controlling the "base scale" of charts included in th quilt.
On the other hand, your suggestion of choice between more automation and the present state, makes sense, as many users seems to expect it. Just my 2 cents .....

Dave, Thomas...
if fixing the today/tomorrow, then please consider this improved version - works even on 12/31 - 01-01 and eliminates the problem in unlikely case when someone scrolls a year back...

OpenCPN 2.1.0 Beta 514

Hello there...

OpenCPN Version 2.1.0 Beta build 514 is ready for download and test.

(Well, not quite...The host for the Windows Setup Program Beta is not currently accepting my FTP upload, but we are working the problem.....
Source builders will be OK with CVS)

Changelog:

91. Update S52PLIB, thanks Pavel.
92. Correct FreeBSD compile issue with sigjmp_buf.
93. Change S52 Object rendering priorities to areas->lines->points
94. Correct logic for painting background of incomplete quilt.
95. AIS symbol update:
a. General alert: Some Target incursion.
b. Info suppressed on: 1) Suppress alert on moored/slow 2)Suppress display of slow/moored
96. Correct for reversal of some S52 features with "ORIENT" attribute.
97. Correct NMEA0183 parser to allow NMEA sentences without checksums to be processed and used for positioning.
98. Add logic to use internally calculated georef solution if BSB embedded solution is poor. cf NOAA 514_1.kap (Bering Strait)
99. Implement NMEA xxGSV Sentence, used for GPS status indicator.
100. (!) Implement Manimaul's new GPS and compass rose iconology. Thanks, Will.
101. Correct Tide/Current "Today/Tomorrow" tags. Thanks Cagney and nohal for the patches.
102. Implement automatic reference chart selection on quilt mode zoom operations.
103. Use hi definition graphics on chart rotate in course-up mode.
104. Add indicators to chart bar for skewed and TMerc charts.
105 Correct logic bug regarding Show ENC Text toolbar button in quilt mode.
106. Add Waypoint Description edit control to Mark Properties dialog

Notes:

Lots of refactoring of BSB chart rendering in this Beta, brought on by performance issues in quilting.
Bugs are expected....but I think we take two steps forward, and only one step backwards for this update.

99. MSW source builders will need to add gsv.cpp and gsv.hpp to their project files to complete a local build.

102: This is a recent request from Ptizef and others. It is an attempt to "just do the right thing" on chart zooming in quilt mode. There are some tweak parameters in the code that may need touchup. Comments appreciated.

Cagney's gtk region crash: Debug code is embedded in this Beta. opencpn will exit cleanly with interesting log entries on a potential region fault. Feedback please...

CVS updated.

Good Luck
Dave

p.s. I will post an update as soon as the Windows Setup.exe is ready for download. Sorry for the delay.

Impressive work Dave, there's so much going on in each release I'm only really up to scratch on a few of them

Working - if we're talking about one way systems on CM93 here?

Exciting.. Sadly this isn't really working at my end, see screenshots.
- The little chart previews aren't working
- Upon zooming out, I sometimes end up in black chartless nirvana (left screenshot)
- Upon zooming in, it doesn't select a new reference chart (right screenshot)
- It doesn't seem to quilt at all under BSB. This is after turning quilting on and off and force rebuilding database.

Working and helpful..

Thanks for your attention

test 514 windows in release mode

Hi Dave
Compiling 514 and run . Thanks for all that works ! very impressive

Afters first quick tests :
1) If opencpn start with cm93 , the bsb bars are empty (see screen shot 514-1) . Once I have selected one time a bsb chart , this is OK until I live opencpn
.
2)Chart selection in quilt mode seams to generally working fine . I can't reproduce Idpnd's left screen , but see screenshot 514-2 , in certain condition , the selection is not good (as previous version) . Curiously , in this same position , once I have manually selected the right chart , zooming in and out works perfectly

3)Track icon is the same whether track is active or not (see screen shot 514-3) The problem exist too for grib icon but this is of less importance for this one

continuing tests ...

best regards
Jean Pierre

Thank you for all the effort you put into this great project.
Another very interesting update to test.

Dave and nohal
The update for a new double arrow marking a DW route (posts #403 +#404) didn't make it for this beta!

It's a feature not a bug!
I think that your chart with all black around it is Transverse Mercator, and hence, rendered alone. The blue chart-button with a bit of pink on the right end indicates this.

Dave
Heading up is not rendering very well. Testing on an EeePC 901 it freezes after one or two adjustments. No crash and no log message, but at least one indication a memory leak. Testing with quilting on almost impossible.
This feature worked OK in previous beta.

No overzoom indication in quilt-mode.
No visual indication of badly geo-referenced charts in the latest beta, as far as I can see??

Dave and manimaul
I find the "North Pointer" icon very difficult to read. The gray area is way to dark.

What does the black little icon between the nort-pointer-icon and the gps-status-icon, do?

test 514 windows in release mode

Hi Dave

Another tests :
1)When only CM93 , in quilting mode ,zoom out goes until true scale = 1/100 000 000 , but at this scale display become odd (see screen shot 514-4)
Could it be possible to limit at 1/50 000 000 or 1/25 000 000 ?

2) I had crashes when deleting routes but I didn't succeed to determine what is the scenario . It always happened around max under zooming , moving accidentally a WP, deleting the corresponding route with route manager , exit route manager and then right click (see screen shot 514-5) Sorry to not be so clear

best regards
Jean Pierre

Dave & idpnd

Regarding tmercs. Quilting seems to work well in the NZ area, both with other tmercs and with mercs, with only the odd hick-up. More testing needed. A part of the refactoring??
I can see the same black area as in idpnds screen-dump on occasion, mainly when zooming out. Zooming further out normally takes care of this.

I quilt mode your options when right clicking on a mark are limited. The option "Remove this chart from quilting" in quilt-mode, replaces the three options "Delete Mark", "Mark/Wpt properties" and "Delete all Waypoints" in normal mode. A bug I suppose...?

It would be fine to have some explanation about this new icon . I do not see any differences what are the parameters I set .
Just a detail :
When I start opencpn , the ais icon color and the new icon position is as shown in screen shot 514-6 , but when opening and closing tool box it become as shown in screen shot 514-7
(good idea the cross on deactivated ais icon , it could be the same for the track icon ?)
