Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Yes, in 3.3.604, AIS test alarm does not work, yet in Watchman it does.

We need to find better alarm wav files for each alarm. Are their standards for these?

Also does it make any sense for Watchman to have CPA less than and TCPA less than alarms in addition to depth alarm? Or would it be redundant?

@kubek Your text in screenshot is good, how do you set that?

@bdbcat What will happen when there is a 3.3.604 crash? Haven't seen any yet, but lots of breaks for what I think are plugin testing. (Read you cut and paste to this forum thread?)

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Hi,

@bdbcat - I also haven't seen any crash in OpenCPN 3.3.604 yet.

@rgleason:
- What do you exactly mean by "@kubek Your text in screenshot is good, how do you set that?"
- I found on the internet two nice sound files which we can used for AIS alarm etc. and one very irritating/annoying for VERY CRITICAL issue.
- Depth alarm could be addition to the landfall alarm, sometimes I needed to sail near coast and I had to check depth very often in this situation depth alarm could be useful.

@dave We've got a couple of longish days coming up over the next few weeks. If its going to crash I should have something for you by mid July. My crashes seem to be time and distance related so not much gets proven by a 3 or 4 hour day.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

something new...?Specific to Right-click menu? routes don't delete the way they used to...say, I create a route.... I Right-Click and choose to delete it... routeline disappears (-it may take two tries) but leaves the waypoints which need deleting one by one... or in route-manager can be done ok (ctrl key functionality is nice here! thanks!) ...actually, again it may take two tries from the right click menu....

I sorta liked the ol' way. Right click a route and it gets deleted. I don't mind the new "Are you sure you want to do that?" whine because I have the habit of ignoring it anyways (sigh)

(and not to harp on a half-baked peeve, but I feel this protection of waypoints is derived from the semantics confusion between MARKS and waypoints.... waypoints are integral PARTs of a route-Marks are not)

Oh well, try it out in a spare moment and see if it does this for you

Happy...
You get hundred points for discovering my favourite bug in 3.3.604 - it's fixed in git since last week, will be in the next beta...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Had a crash right at the dock tonight. Went to demonstrate O to some dockmates and it crashed almost immediately.

Error Signature
szAppName : opencpn.exe szAppVer : 3.3.604.0 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000
C:\DOCUME~1\RJD380~1.(BO\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER2acd.dir 00\opencpn.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\RJD380~1.(BO\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER2acd.dir 00\appcompat.txt

I got a dialog box asking if I wanted to send an error report somewhere so I agreed to it - was that what I was supposed to do. The cut and paste above was all I could extract from that dialog.

Bobofthenorth,

below the instructions for 'Crash reporting' found in (#1) of this thread :

30. Semi-automatic Crash reporting for Windows.
Occasionally we get reports of crashes in the field which are not reproducible. This change allows the
creation and export of a Crash Report file, which may be sent to the developers for post mortem analysis.
It works like this:
a. Install and run OpenCPN normally. You will see no difference unless a crash occurs.
b. If a crash occurs, you will be presented with a new dialog that says "OpenCPN has stopped working"
c. Choose "What does the report contain", then the button "Export"
d. Save the .zip file, and post the resulting file to the Forum.

Please note that the "Send Report" option is not (yet) implemented, so NOTHING WILL HAPPEN if you choose this option.

Also, for fun, you may test this option by the keystroke Alt-F12. This will induce a benign crash, and give you a chance to see what it will look like before the real thing happens.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

@AISEAG Thanks but its not that simple. I didn't get the nice OCPN error handling box. Instead I got the standard windows "this program has stopped working" nonsense with limited reporting available.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

I normally use the Route Manager to IMPORT my .gpx POI files for editing and then select the files to be EXPORTED.

This is not possible for one of my Country POI files, even although it loads up ok in the layers area. Can anybody check what is wrong with the attached .gpx file?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Tore...
Sample file that does not import, please.

I don't understand the rest about export though. You were calling for the possibility to export multiple selected objects and it has been implemented.

Be warned, and I really mean it, that 3.3.604 has a few severe bugs in the GPX code. Do not use it on your "production" data.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Pavel..

My mistake.. it only happens to one specific POI file which I attached for checking.

I see now the EXPORT function works on selected files thanks.

Thanks for the warning... I will not use this version yet for editing my POI files.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

bobofthenorth....

We need to get Crash Reporting working on your system, since your COMM crashes are one of the main motivations for crash reporting in this version

First, try a controlled crash, ala "crash test dummy".
Start O as normal, and strike key Alt-F12. It will crash, gently.

Compare your screens to the attached images. Note the sequence:
"What does this report contain" ->"Export..." -> File save dialog....

This is how we get and save a Crash Report.

Do you get these screens on a crash?

Thanks
Dave

@Dave - that is the exact sequence I get on the artificial crash but not what I got last night.

Hi,

Sorry for delay, but I broke achilles 8 weeks ago and I have to go for some special gyms to recover to health.

Only one thing that I changed in OpenCPN settings was the fonts in StatusBar.
some time ago, I extracted console fonts from linux.
I found it helpful when I have limited space for information.

Maybe you also find it useful.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.604 Released

Hello Dave,

While in France, and with very few days available before returning sail, I quickly test the latest beta 3.3.604.

I saw some new items in the screens. Looking for the latest pot file

Reading the first post of this tread, I'm going to: https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN

I look at: https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/tree/master/po

Nothing new.

Where is really the branch for 3.3.604 ?

Thank by advance.

Gilletarom.
