Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hello Jongough, hello all,

I made a silly test. BUT who knows.

On my tablet, W10 :
I created 4 EBL, with two fixed angle, one with a fixed direction and one with a fixed end. Early in north up mode.

I launched VDR and VDR read a file. All is well ... No problem. The boat turns and both EBL who must turn rotates. "The EBL fixed end" revolves around the boat. The EBL fixed management keeps its fixed direction when the boat is moving.

Then I had the idea to switch from North Up COG Up mode, hot. Ie without stopping VDR.

So,
- The O icon bar disappeared
- O is blocked completely, without crash.

Second test :
With same kind of EBL. But I choice COG Up initially.
I run VDR with the same file.

At the beginning of the file, the trace is "north" so it works properly. A little further away, the boat turns 90 degrees to starboard. So:
- The chart rotate 90 degrees to port side, ---> Ok
- The fixed line correctly changed around the boat ---> Ok
- The line has fixed direction has rotated correctly, ---> Ok
- The two lines at a fixed angle, were not pivoted, ----> NOOOOOO PFUUUUU ...
- And O was blocked. ---> Pfuuu

Forced in this two tests to manually shutdown O.

Here join the VDR file used. (Den Helder, to Texel, North Nederland.)

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi.I have got 4.2 Ocpn with the 4.641 Draw plugin.
Great plugin!Many thanks!!!

Works very nice but the weather routing ignores the exclusion zone I draw.

Specifically I want to force weather routing to not venture into the Waddenzee.

Thanks for any suggestions to fix this.

Franziska,
The latest versions of Draw, Watchdog and Weatherrouting are still beta's, and therefor not yet officially published.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Franziska,
To get weather routing to use the boundaries you need a new version, which is not yet in the official repository. If you can compile you can get it from my fork of the repository:
https://github.com/jongough/weather_routing_pi
use the fixes branch.

The weather routing dialog will show "Detect Boundary" in the Weather Routing Configuration window.

I will see if I can generate a windows installable and put it up on dropbox soon.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
I am looking into the language issue with validation of values entered into OD dialogs. The OCPN dialogs do not validate the input fields for correctness, i.e. you can put in "-1.2.1.2" and hit enter, this will then strip the first 3 chars and leave you with "-1.2" which may be correct (or not), but it does not tell you it has done it.

OD uses wxWidgets validators for when using 3.0 and above, below this, i.e. 2.8 it does not use validators. The validators are a standard part of wxWidgets and ensure that if you have a numeric field you can only put numerics in there. So you, on my keyboard and using US english I can only enter "-1.2" if I try an put an extra decimal in there nothing happens, if I try and put any value which is not numeric, the decimal character or the sign character nothing happens. I did this in response to a user who wanted validation of entered information.

If I cannot fix this soon, or work out what is happening, I will revert to the old method of not validating the input fields (I only have to comment out a couple of lines).

I am sorry if this is causing major issues, but this is the first I have heard of it and there is little information in the wxWidgets documentation, that I have found, that mentions internationalisation of validation (in fact I have yet to find any). Please bear with me as I try to understand and fix this.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
If you want to try out the weather routing plugin with the boundary checking you will find a windows installer here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jzf63u3feu...win32.exe?dl=0

It should run against the latest OCPN 4.2. I created it with OCPN 4.1.1327

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hello Jongough,

With PC W8.1. With 4.2 and this OD : ocpn_draw_pi-0.4.645-ov4.2-win32 that I download this evening from Thingie.

I create an EBL and then I edit EBL properties and I change this :
- I check "Rotate with boat"
- I check "COG" (not magnetic )

With the same VDR file that I used for my previous test, I see that the EBL do not turn with the boat.

I see also that, I place the boat far away the first point of the VDR file, then when I run VDR, the EBL length is change -->very very long. But, when I open EBL properties, the length is the same that the length of the EBL when I create this EBL.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
For those of you with issues in OD filling in fields in the dialog boxes can you try out patch 647 and see if it helps. If you can now fill in decimal numbers in fields in EBL properties and DR create/update can you check in the ODnavobj.xml and ODnavobj.xml.changes file and see if the information is stored correctly? I suppose restarting OCPN should show that as well.

My setup is difficult to change to other languages fully and I only have a US keyboard, so cannot check for the other keyboard types.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon..

not a keyboard issue.

Region setting
implies decimal delimiters, dates (for US that strange Month/Day/Year stuff) or week starts Sunday or Monday.
The European (and some place more) numbers are 1.234,67 when in US (or down under) you will have 1,345.67
Always big fun when exporting or importing cvs for example.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
I have now reproduced the error and am trying to fix it. I have got to the point where I can accept ','(comma), but the numbers behind the decimal separator are not being used. So trying to debug at the moment.

Jon
Why not simply replace an input comma with a point?

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Dear Jon,

I'll have to figure out compiling 😀
Maybe something worth learning.

Otherwise I'm patient to wait for theinstaller.Sailing season will start April,so enough time.

Btw,your plugin is awesome for preparing a trip and highlighting areas of danger.

Thanks for the hard work.
