It should be noted the German files listed above are a very small portion of the whole.

Have just been trying to manually download NZ charts and they fail by not being the full size (don't know why I was trying this). Since my opencpn.ini got corrupted I don't have the current chartdnlder, but went to and earlier one and tried download of NZ, the catalog showed two large files of proper size, I unpdated the catalog and it showed that March 2015 was new. I have successfully downloaded it now and both say "Up to date"

What a marvel, How could chartdwnldr succeed over a manual download! Amazing. Well done.

Changes since 0.9:

• Improved logic while storing the local chart information to make it more robust (Fixes some Brasilian charts appearing as new even though they are installed)
• Updated translation
• Fixes for some potential bugs revealed by statical code analysis
• Fixed chart number comparison case sensitivity

Since there are more and more plugins using wxCurl might it be usefull to include wxCurl as a dynamic lib?
In my own compilations I got some RTTI (run-time type information) problems using wxCurl in different plugins and so I switch it to a dynamic lib. But maybe this was LLVM specific only.

It might be possible in the future. We had to modify some of the WxCurl code to get the plugin functional. You should not see RTTI messages from this plugin. Please report any if observed.

It is probabely a special case here because I use Xcode (LLVM) and so I got RTTI messages compiling chartdldr, weatherfax and squiddio plugins all using wxCurl. Including wxCurl as a dynamic lib they are gone. I have not changed any code in wxCurl to make it a dynamic lib. It just works.

I recommend to compile chartdldr_pi plugin exactly as it comes from git or just install the package as it comes from the plugin page at OpenCPN.org. It may cause problems to link with another untested dll.

Not to Gerhard - he builds a monolithic OpenCPN package supporting OS X Yosemite only and does not care about anything else, so he is fine...

Hi,

For some reason RIjkswaterstaat here in The Netherlands decided to switch from .zip to .7z (very inconvenient), but only for the Full map, not for the Zeeland map. Could you unzip .7z too? Have to do it manually now, which works but is less convenient

I'm aware of this - it is nothing new actually. For now I don't plan to implement it just because of this one file, but it is on the tentative todo list.

Feature requests:

1. Download the higher resolution gshhs charts.
2. Integrate with bittorrent (invoke external client) and we can host a tracker or maybe just find a tracker we can use for users to share charts.

Good ideas. I have used Vuze but my impression is torrents seem to have malware and virus. Is there a reasonable way to keep it clean for users?

It would be nice to expand the chart selection somehow. Having users hosting charts via torrent sounds pretty good but isn't complicated to program? It needs to be kept clean.

Is it possible to develope a plugin to calibrate jpg's of paper charts. Like you can do in Oziexplorer?
This way I have the charts in paper and digital

The weatherfax plugin can already do this.

It would be nice to make a more powerful chart editor plugin with drag-drop capabilities for coodinated points to make it very easy to align recorded tracks to reef passes and ability to correct errors in the chart and blend in data from more than one image, and perform blur/sharpen and color transformations (but perhaps this is best left to an external program) Also a chart editing plugin for vector charts could prove useful.

I don't think it's a good idea for the OpenCPN project to officially assist in trading pirated charts. Just my opinion.

You are the first to mention pirated. It would be up to the user to follow the laws in their country. Some countries do not have copyright so it is therefore allowed to share any type of charts there. Finally, running a tracker seems to be perfectly legal as it is the actual users or clients that could possibly break a copyright but never the server or tracker itself.

I don't think the TPB admins agree with you, although Swedish jail is probably not the worst...
I'm definitely not going to try this brilliant idea on myself.
