Re: Double Mast Demasting @Sea
I own a Dickerson 36 ketch and it also has a triatic stay. When I bought my current boat, I was shopping specifically for a ketch, and I don't remember seeing any that did not have a triatic. |

Re: Chesapeake Bay haul out recommendations
The folks at Maryland Marina are helpful and I've found they often have stuff that I need in their chandlery that West Marine doesn't keep in stock. However, I keep my 36' boat at a smaller and... |

Re: Cruising dream
Hi Kate, I'm a few years further from retirement, but I bought a boat a couple of years ago after several years of research. I'd also mostly done lake and costal sailing and one-design racing. I... |

Re: New lead battery Technology coming.
I've learned not to get excited about new battery technologies until they hit the market. There are several technologies being hyped and we are all waiting for that game changer. But I'm not getting... |

Re: New display for OLD transducer?
The CP is a Raymarine c120, which is pre-NMEA 2000, and, as I mentioned, it is flakey. Right now, the Pi with openCPN4 is something up a back-up, and I'm not sure yet if it will become the main CP or... |

Re: New display for OLD transducer?
It could be something like that. There is a large round thing (maybe somewhere in the 8"-12" diameter range? I forget exactly) that is glassed to the hull. It's set so the diameter is parallel to... |

Re: New display for OLD transducer?
Thanks everyone for all the input! I've gone ahead and ordered a Raymarine i40 depth, which, as far as I can tell is a 200kHz unit. It has Seatalk, so potentially can interface with my flakey... |

Re: New display for OLD transducer?
Thanks for all the info. Sean was very helpful in directing me to the drivers I needed to interface his weather module with my laptop. |

Re: New display for OLD transducer?
Hi Bill O, Thanks for the reply! Yes, I am certain it is the head that failed. The display slowly faded over about a year while giving accurate readings. I did look for a used display, but... |

New display for OLD transducer?
My 1973 36' ketch has a massive IN hull (not thru) depth transducer that may be original. The display, a Standard Communications Corp Horizon DS-10, has failed. Since the transducer was working prior... |

Re: Least expensive NEW 28-34 foot bluewater cruisers
When I was boat shopping, and looking at all the arguments about what is and isn't a blue water boat, I asked an insurance company representative, "What is the smallest sized bout you will insure for... |

Re: Origo Stoves have been discontinued??
I'm looking at this thread for the first time in a while. The Origo 3000 knock-off only appears to be available in Europe. In addition to the link above, Amazon.de has it, but won't ship it to the... |

Re: Origo Stoves have been discontinued??
[ I've read that the Cookmate is also no longer in production, and it certainly appears less available than the Origo stoves. The pictures I've seen of them make them appear nearly identical to... |

Re: Origo Stoves have been discontinued??
A few places still have new origo stoves in stock, as it appears they were discontinued late last year. However, nearly all mention of them has disappeared from the Dometic web site, and those pages... |

Origo Stoves have been discontinued??
I wanted to replace the propane stove top in my boat, and I recently found a good deal on a used Origo 3000 stove. I was actually considering buying a new one. However, it appears that Dometic has... |

Re: What is accurate regarding cost?
When I started looking at boats several years ago, I was thinking I wanted a boat somewhere in the 40-50 foot range. However, I just bought a 36' ketch. It's an older full-keel boat on the previously... |
