Jabin's in Annapolis, the yard has everything(!), work yourself or get help, super nice folks, clean bath house, small cafe, not too far from amtrak or BWI..

Was at Jabin's for some 18 years. Great working yard, with most anything you can need either on the yard or the surrounding area. But being in Annapolis it's on the expensive side for dock and land storage.

Re: Chesapeake Bay haul out recommendations

We keep our boat at Maryland Marina in upper Middle River over the winter. Lots of big sailboats live there. They have a travel lift, a couple of large repair bays, and a well-equipped supply shop. Nice thing about being near Baltimore is ease of access to the Baltimore Washington Intl Airport. Marina is well up Frogmortar Creek, very well protected. Plus they have a pretty good restaurant onsite, Sunset Cove, great for refreshment when you are done working on the boat, lol. There are plenty of others around here.

Wonton Creek Marina. Its across the bay from Baltimore. You can work on your own boat, storage is up high and it’s a hurricane hole.

+1 for Herrington Harbour North. Plenty of room, good tradespeople, beautiful setting, and friendly staff.

The places you will find in/around Annapolis, are expensive, crowded, and not at all welcoming to visitors.

I've hauled out at Dandy Haven, Hampton. Great little DIY marina and yard manager Andy is a great guy!

Also Cobbs Marina in Norfolk is a great yard too. Close to Norfolk Airport.

The folks at Maryland Marina are helpful and I've found they often have stuff that I need in their chandlery that West Marine doesn't keep in stock.

However, I keep my 36' boat at a smaller and less expensive marina around the corner: Stansbury Yacht Basin. My cousin recommended it to me - he keeps his 27' boat there. My only complaint is that I have to drop my Mizzen mast (but not the main mast) to get my ketch into Stansbury's travel lift. However, I don't think a 36' sloop would have that issue.
