Chesapeake Bay haul out recommendations
My wife and I have a 36ft sailboat with a 5 ft draft. We are looking for a place in the Chesapeake Bay to haul for the summer. We will return home to work (July-early October).
We are looking for a reasonably priced storage option, a place we can do minor boat work ourselves, and someplace that has good hurricane/storm surge protection.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Chesapeake Bay haul out recommendations
Thanks! I like Deltaville. We hauled at Chesapeake Boat Works in Deltaville to do an unexpected repair a few years ago. I called them but they are full and recommended their sister marina Stingray Point. One thing I liked about Chesapeake Boat Works was the fact that the storage yard is about 20 feet above sea level. Is the Deltaville Boat Yard storage area well above sea level?
Have you stored your boat there before?

Herrington harbor North has a great yard, nice and clean, bathhouses, restaurants nearby, you are permitted work on your own boat.
I was on the hard there from august through april. water an electric every 50 feet.
plenty far above water.

We don't have a specific area in mind because we will be leaving the boat and going home to Minnesota. We want to be north of Cape Hatteras for the hurricane season so the Chesapeake seems like a logical place to haul out. We are open to suggestions through out the bay.
Reasonable storm protection, ability to work on our own boat, reasonable prices are the main criteria. We will also have to get to an airport to fly home, so access to an airport is a plus, but we are pretty creative with transportation so that is lower on our list of priorities.
Thanks!

Haven harbor in Rock Hall, maryland. It's on Swan creek which a greatly protected. Been here 10 years. Honest, nice facility and quality work. Operations manager is Greta Somers and service manager is Bill Neff. They are awesome!!

No conflicts of interest to report. I'm just a very satisfied long term customer. And, if you end up there, I can keep an eye on your boat from time to time.

Interesting as we where looking to wet/dry store our vessel for the summer, just completed a 6 month cruise of south Fla., found out that storing it in Daytona Beach we saved several hundred dollars vs. storing it the Chesapeake area..reasons given "..Less claims.." found that very interesting..

We haul and stay at the Zimmerman yard in Mathews virginia. There is no in water storage, just dry. But it's a safe area, and the staff are great. Reasonable prices.

Re: Chesapeake Bay haul out recommendations
I kept my boat in the yard in Deltaville Virginia. Deltaville Yachting Center. Supper nice people, rates are good, you can work on your own boat, boat supplies and shops in the area, never an issue with stolen things.

Re: Chesapeake Bay haul out recommendations
I keep my boat at Oak Harbor Marina in winter. The yard is mostly empty in summer. It is on Rock Creek just south of Key Bridge/Baltimore. Way above sea level and you can definitely work on your own boat. 410-255-4070/oakharbormd@gmail.com
