Hey Eric. It's Marcus. Emailed you sometime ago after most of the shitstorm blew over but maybe you changed it or whatever. Just checking in and saying hi. I can't add anything that hasn't been said already but Jen and I are sure sorry that your cruise went all to ****.
Been keeping up with your guys blogs.
Hope everyone is well and adjusting to the new normal.
We're 8 years into our voyage and just decided to kick the SSB to the curb. Replacing it with an iridium 9555 sat phone. What company would you recommend for the purchase of the phone and for time. We're sailing direct 4000nm from the Marshall Islands to Alaska.
Ahoy, I was reading some of your posts in the Pro's and Con's thread. I am a local native San Diegan and I am just now getting around to fulfilling my dream of living aboard. I was in the process in 1993 before I met my wife. She wasn't quite into to it but now she is just as excited as I am. She is partial to Cat's where I have been looking at Beneteua's. I was wondering if you had time maybe I could pick your brain and get some advise? Neither of us has ever sailed and we are prepping to take lessons. I'd spring for lunch. Feel free to contact me either email or call. We plan on circumnavigating the globe in about 6 years. Kids will be in college and there are some places on my bucket list I need to see. Thanks fro your time.

I just noticed your comment: "just say not to 5200" ... Not being a professional boat builder I get most of my education from things I read ... and of course trial and sometimes error. Is this sarcasm or is there something about 5200 that I should know about?
I have been very fussy about carrying weight that doesn't get deployed very often. Probably shouldn't be quite so fussy.
In answer to your question, there are 2 different immediate possibilities hanging out there for me at the moment. Neither of them in Indonesia. 1 in UK and 1 in Middle East. There is another project in Indonesia that may come together in late 2014 I have been told. Originally it was 2012, then 2013, and now they are saying 2014. Anyway, it is in my field. Commissioning industrial water treatment plants, which are usually a part of some other industrial construction. Very often power plants.
I am very much in need of going back to work. I have been living cheaply but not free.
Wow !! on that anchor and rode. Do you carry all that chain in the bow?
Are you still in La Paz? I am still in Indonesia. Stupid stupid part is that I didn't do all that I should have done for a 3 month stay away from Minggat. I plan to be back by middle of Aug, hopefully to put her in dry storage as I leave for a year long project. gotta feed the kitty.
