Re: What Ages Were ?
I would suggest you read S/V Totem's blog. They are currently cruising and have kids those ages: S/V Totem - a family sailing the world
Our daughter is 2 years old and has lived aboard her whole life. I'm also 17 weeks pregnant with our second who will also live aboard with us as we go cruising.

Allow your kids to be a part of family decisions for where you want to go & make an effort to find other kids along the way. Our kids are 10 & 12, and s/v Ocelot ( www.hackingfamily.com) gave us some of this advice for cruising with kids. Even though we like secluded anchorages, we balance it with kid time.

Re: What Ages Were ?
Our twins were 3 days old when we returned from the hospital to our boat. Liveaboards since, they are now five. Salty sandy children are the happiest...

Re: What Ages Were ?
If your kids weren't born on board or brought on as infants, what was the transition like? Mine are approx. 3&7, weekenders still, and our first attempt at real cruising was miserable for the little one so we packed it in.

Re: What Ages Were ?
We're planning to begin a circumnavigation with our one child when he's about ten. Any advice? Has anyone taken a landlubber away from his home and friends at that age to start a crazy oddysey like that?
