Does Santa Like Rum ?
These balls had the whole party Rollin'
Cocoa Rum Balls
1 box (12-oz. size) Vanilla wafers, in crumbs
1 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
3/4 cup Powdered sugar
1/4 cup Cocoa or European Style Cocoa
1/2 cup Light rum
3 tablespoons Light corn syrup or honey
Powdered sugar, for rolling
In a large bowl, combine the cookie crumbs, the chopped nuts, the powdered sugar and the cocoa powder. Add rum and corn syrup; blend well. Shape into 1-inch balls and then roll in powdered sugar. Store in an airtight container 2 to 3 days to develop flavor. Lightly re-roll in powdered sugar before serving.

Chef - great recipe!
And I walked through Walmart today and thought I had to get something else....I did swear not to set foot in one again before Xmas but having been reminded of this recipe I gotta ...
I have a vision of using some melted chocolate ,white at that and make a b&w mix of rumballs.

Thanks a lot Chef Mike, this looks like a recipe that will impress my dear old mom. She's always loved her rum and has taken to sweets now that she can't get around on her own much. My bet is a few of these and she'll dance with me! Merry Xmas!

Have you tried carob as a chocolate substitute? Not like real chocolate but reasonably close and is not bad tasting in it's own right.

carob only seems like a reasonable substitute fro chocolate if you are NOT a chocolate lover. i never could get my tastebuds to accept carob. and is nasty is coffee.
