Our vote is for a simple French Press and a good insulated thermos. The coffee tastes great and there is nothing to fix or maintain. A cool morning with a warm flavorful cup of coffee is one of sailings greatest pleasures.

Re: Any Coffee Drinkers ?
A "coffee toddy" is a cold water coffee maker, you put coffee and cold water in the thing on the top, 12 hours later you pull a plug out of the bottom and the jar fills withe an extract...1oz plus hot water produces a delicious cup of coffee (minus the waxes, oils and associated bitterness)
That said I still prefer a good old fashion stove top perc(will filter discs to keep grounds out). To solve the refrigeration problem, Baily's Irish Cream makes a good substitute.

Re: Any Coffee Drinkers ?
Because you "brew" a pound at a time with the toddy you can make a lot ahead of time and stow the jar in a safe place until needed, also the jar would lend itself to a knot work cover...the most important part is the plastic top, you can use something else for the bottom

If you don't want SS, Bodum have several plastic models.
Amazon.com: Bodum Brazil Shatterproof 8-Cup French Press Coffee Maker: Kitchen & Dining
I use a glass Bodum with a plastic frame which is still unbroken after 4 years.

Re: Any Coffee Drinkers ?
I tried the cold coffee toddy. I found it smooth and flavorful. The problem I had was mixing it with hot water. I found that because of its smoothness I was real heavy on the mix and was drinking it very condensed like 5 cups in one. did the job and kept me up all night. But I found that if I had to heat the water anyway I just want back to instant. I do hate wiping up coffee grounds.

We like the plastic one we picked up at Dick's Sporting Goods at a reasonable price. The container is plastic with a thin, removable insulation wrapper. It strains the grounds really well and the coffee tastes good. If I remember correctly it was labeled with a GSI brand.

Re: Any Coffee Drinkers ?
I use a frieling coffee press. They come in various sizes from 17 ounce to 42 ounce ( 1 large cup to 4 or 5 large cups).
No draw on batts, makes perfect coffee to personal taste and has double wall construction to keep it warm...although I generally transfer to a true thermos to keep it hot longer!

Re: Any Coffee Drinkers ?
Thermos: I've accumulated a few and after a casual toss lost a glass thermos full of nice cold wine...the new ones have been stainless. But even "gen-you-whine" the stainless ones just can't hold a candle to the old glass ones, when it comes to keeping hot coffee really hot all day long. Which is probably why the small glass one barely holds 12 oz. while a stainless one the same size holds over a pint.
