Re: 2 OR 3 BURNER RANGE?

I realize it's a slightly different thread, but square pots solve much of the problem of fitting pots on a small cook top.

High quality set from NZ that stacks/nests for space saving storage.

Re: 2 OR 3 BURNER RANGE?

Our previous stove was a three-burner. As most others have said, we almost never used all three at one time. When cooking on land I rarely use more that two burners.

So when I replaced the stove in my current boat we opted for a two-burner Force-10. I find the cook space perfectly adequate, and we do a lot of cooking on board. Although there are only two us.

Maybe off topic but certainly relevant, looks like a nice solution!

Re: 2 OR 3 BURNER RANGE?

In at least one brand of stove/oven combinations, the 2 burner does not have a thermostat for the oven. To me that is way too crude. So check that detail for the combined unit, and take it into account.

My 2020 Beneteau 46.1 came with two burners which is fine, and a small oven, but the lack of a thermostat I find annoying and inappropriate for this modern age.

We are currently day sailing / overnight 1-3 nights.

What are the pros /cons for 2 vs 3 burners?
thanks

Re: 2 OR 3 BURNER RANGE?

You need 3 burner in order to have enough room to use 2 of them!

Re: 2 OR 3 BURNER RANGE?

We have a Dickinson Mediteranean 3 burner. I like the 3rd high btu burner for my griddle or for boiling a large pot of water quickly. Most of the time we cook with the smaller 2 burners.

I installed a three burner Eno Gasgone. I like the oven a lot, but I could never use three pots at the same time.

Isn't that a rather different question? Size of oven vs what's up top?

Same answer though.

I was not aware of those differences, though, so thx for having that brought up.

My boat has an old 3-burner propane stove. Never used all three at the same time but the number is not as imortant as the size and location. My stove has one burner in back and two forward. The back burner is the only one that can take the skillet we use.

A little off point, but i attach a diving weight to the bottom of the oven (outside) to slow down the swing.

I highlighted what had been commented on in the thread, in the pros or cons of the 2 vs 3 burner stoves from Force10 and dickenson primarily. But this has been a great thread for all the input on the stove designs and what people like /use or don't in their current ranges. It has helped me to decide that a 2 burner model would meet my needs, and allow me to understand the shortcomings of each general type and some brand specific pros /cons as well. thanks for all the great feedback on the stoves!

Re: 2 OR 3 BURNER RANGE?

@pdx sailing: We bought our Force 10 3 burner new.

It is the most aggravating stove and oven to clean that I have ever had. It is all the tight right angles, and the difficulty removing small crumbs. If you can afford an Espace, do look at them, from the keeping spotless point of view. It may actually be well worth the price jump. ....and I hate to write that, because I like to keep costs down.

Or look into being able to blow the crumbs off onto the cabin sole, and sweeping them up, just one more step in cleaning up the galley.

However, it will accept a 6 k. turkey, but then so did our old Eno 2 burner, no thermostat but low med hi, which worked flawlessly for years. But sorry, discontinued.

Re: 2 OR 3 BURNER RANGE?

Mostly, the number of burners directly correlates to oven size. I’m not sure why stove mfg never grok how their stoves are actually used, but that’s how it is
