Re: Sailing from Malaysia to New Zealand

What route are planning? Are you going to clear into Australia, if so where?
You've got a long slog across Indonesia in generally light air. Then you have cyclone season to contend with for your timing to Aust and beyond. There are a number of Australian boats getting ready to leave Malaysia now for Aus.
Are you going to wait for Covid season to be over to enable more open countries on the way?

Paul thank you for your reply at this point I am waiting for the Malaysia border to open I am stuck in Phuket and i was wondering when is the better period of the year to sail from Malaysia to new Zealand because of typhoon season. I know that if you are going to south Africa from Malaysia may will be a good time?

That's not a lot of additional info. As I said, there are a few Aus boats getting ready to head back to Aus via Indonesia. The southern cyclone season is around Nov to May. Right now you could get through Indonesia, all 3,000 miles of it, but then you are locked out of Aus, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, etc.
It isn't going to be a pleasant trip in that direction, unless you have plenty of time and countries open up.

Re: Sailing from Malaysia to New Zealand

What sort of boat do you have, what sort of voyage are you up for?

What I did when I bought my boat in Thailand 26 years ago.....

Singapore ... Sunda Strait ... Fremantle oops Carnarvon due to rig issues ... in April/May with a deep leg south with a little bit of west.... before turning east.

Fremantle ... Albany ... Port Phillip later that year.

Westernport - Wellington in March some years later....

Worked for me...
