Sailing from Papua New Guinea to New Zealand

Hello, I own 40' catamaran in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea and have been contemplating sailing her home to New Zealand.

Does anyone out there have any experiences of this journey, best time of year, how long it may take etc.

I'd head South to Cairns, down the Qld coast and then across from Brisbane.

Three days to Cairns, a week or so Cns-Bne if you push it at the right time of year and 10 days or so Bne-Auckland but wait for the right weather window.

I'd look at Oct/Nov

Late Sept at the earliest, you may get lucky and have no wind after 6+ months of se trade winds non stop.
Great coast too,lots of awesome islands all the way nearly to Brisbane.
