I am currently on a 5 year count down to moving myself, wife, and son into a cruising life. Oddly enough I was a cruising kid and went with my family down the ICW and Bahamas for a couples years way back in the 80's.

Anyway just saying a howdy as I lurk about reading posts to make the time pass a bit easier

Best of luck! The transition from CO to the ocean went pretty well for us, tough though it was to leave the beautiful, arid high country..

Actually we are moving out of the high country and crazy 8000ft elevation lake sailing and headed to Sierra Leone for the next couple years, so at least I will get to buffer my system and get accustomed to the sound of waves again.

Sadly though I understand that Freetown sits on the largest natural deep water harbor in West Africa, I don't imagine there is much in the way of a sailboat to buy there or any particular infrastructure to support it.
