Gord, that is priceless humor.
Thank gawd for thread drift or I never would have read it.

Actually its a Medical expression refering to a type of worm often aquired in the Tropics that drift via the blood stream to various other parts of the body...lungs etc....

Ahhh.. Come on.. If he aint decided after 4 pages of flattery... will he ever..
It's called conversation... listen to any folks chatting anywhere.. it drifts..
I joined for that reason... good info and friendly banter... if you want hard 'Techie Facts' join one of the dead sites I trolled through...
full of 'Experts' dry and dull..
At least here one gets something that raise's a smile, and an occasional good laugh.
As someone said... its a mix of opinions from people with 0 to 1yrs experience to the guys who've cruised for 50yrs... some just read and very rarely post anything... others like to jump in and speak their piece..
I'll jump in if I feel I can help answer a question... but honestly..
is this like...a serious post...
"I'll jump off the bridge if everyone else wont meet my standards"

Don, I hear all your saying. You got 6 pages of posts trying to talk you into staying and not so many about the joy of sailing. Personally, I think if you didn't like it (burned out) before this thread, you probably aren't tomorrow either.
I've personally gotten a ton of information from the site and now that I own my boat, can search specific topic's. Just today I looked for tramp material sites, found two, and was connected to the best sources for it. There's so much info stored away in old treads it's really invaluable (not that I want to pay for it of course). But it's not the end-all. Maybe you just need a little break.
I do agree with a previous poster though, CF is a little addicting and you probably will have trouble staying away for too long.

We might have a problem. With 31,666 members just collecting the vote means you have to stand on the rail for at least a few weeks before we can get the count let alone verified. Without naming names we have just very small few with standards that no one should wait to jump over. I think the main point is "pick a short bridge" and be done with it, swim out, and have a cold one in a warm location. Your standards would be well severed.

Thread Drift is akin to that campfire game we did in Boy Scouts.....Where the Scoutmaster would tell a brief story to the first kid in the circle....who would then repeat it to the next etc etc......by the time it got around it didn't resemble the original statement at all......

I'm still around taking my crack on CF! When it comes down to it this thread may have set a record, 6 pages that for the most are still on topic. I did note there were some who chose to come up with something negative to say, guess they just can not hold it in. Maybe this whole thread gives some pause when replying to threads.
