I just read your very informative post regards the Peloponnese. I am looking at making the trip from Licata/Sicily(where the boat is on the hard) in May-ish, heading east towards Greece, and plan to check in at Argostolion, before heading south... I will be working in Croatia (skipper) for a few months before heading back to Greece to meet the family. I was wondering if you had any marina recommendations where I could safely leave my boat while working? I assume this area is quite less built up from what I have read in Heikell's guide...but would rather be further south than Levkas/ Preveza etc if possible...
Hi David am curious about yr request. Barb & I have decided change lifestyles & seek a Liveaboard in the Med for 2-3 years with a view to Carribean & back onto NZ. We are professionals, I've worked in IT Industry around the world. Was CEO of Oracle NZ 8 years & SUN & IBM before that. Barb is a Pharmacist, works in Industry (for Pharma cos) Weve sorted our life to make this change now. Weve been seeking a boat in the med - havent found one - I like the Lucia 40 - only new and I'd prefer 2-3 yr old boat. Barb learnt to sail in UK & chartered in the Med, before moving to NZ. I was bought up on sailing owned 4 small boats & then got into racing & cruising around NZ. Weve borrowed friend boats for some good NZ cruising. Then my cousin bought a Farrier F43 Cat & Ive sailed with him in Fiji and then couple of years ago I did the French Polynesia - Cook Is - Samoa - as the 3rd person on the boat. Loved it.
Do you have any more info ?

Hi David,
Hope all is well with you. Just checking to see if you have used Pallaran at all this season, I keep an eye on your blog page and note nothing posted for a while. We collected the mooring ball that "Victoria" was leaving when clearing customs at Sopers Hole in BVI's back in May but could only yell at each other for couple of minutes before they sailed off. Unfortunately we didnt run into them again but they store her in PR off season. We managed 2 trips last season, 6 and 7 weeks which doesnt really justify her sitting there for the rest of the year.
Cheers
Karen

*We are in the process of *moving into an intrem townhouse while we complete building a new house on Galveston Bay so we will not be down until late January. Usually wall space is available on the Wall House quay (north?). The "proper proceedure" ( as set out for me by one of the Port Captain guys) is to anchor out, dinghy in and clear in and request a berth. Then they will tell you what is available or put you on a waiting list. *Watch that Wall House quey, *it gets REALLY surgy. *If you have to anchor out you can get way up close to Public. It stays deep.
