I don't care if its Mono or Cat... I've owned both... loved both.... folks who wanna fight about it are just on ego trips... its where your at, not what your on thats important...
As long as its seaworthy and gets me where I wanna go that's the main thing... then I can get back out there and experience some of the joys of life that I can experience nowhere else... except when sailing.....
A Whale surfacing to blow yards from the boat and then swimming alongside for a few minutes looking you over before sounding again... the sight of 1,000 Dolphins charging to some unknown destination with the leaders leaping out of the water doing somersaults and flips...
A pod of Orca deciding your cool to hang with for a few days.. and most important of all
The sheer peace and spiritual joy... the release of physical and mental tension that comes from being alone on a boat in the Ocean... away from the insanity that's called Civilisation...
I've hiked the Hindu Kush, climbed above habitable lands and appreciate the Beautyand Majesty that's there, but I'm sorry... for me it comes nowhere near equaling the Joy of the Ocean...
Also to me.. a boat moving well, near or at her maxium hull speed, the quiver and rush that makes her a living thing.. is as big a HIT to my chemistry as hacking a bike at 100mph+ along an empty winding country road...
beats the hell out of the couple of ACID TRIPS I experimented with in the 60's..
how can one find that boring..
Yesterdays past History, tomorrows a Fantasy... Todays all ones got..
Honest and Positive sentiments Mr Lucas... that's why I go out there...
Why do you..??

Don,

I understand your frustration. I hae been on this forum for awhile, but do not often post because I have more interest in listening than opining. I have learned a great deal here. I have been on the Internet since the days of Usenet and IRC (anyone remember them??), and when your major options for access were Compuserve and AOL.....Some folks from Usenet may remember me from way back then......(different handle...). I lose my temper from time to time. I get over it...The same anonymity that allows people to post without fear also means that more mean-spirited and nasty posts find their way to discusion forums. Stay here for what you can learn, and for the camaraderie that we all share. Discard what you dislike. Scroll on!

I better giove my thoughts to the OP original post before reading the rest of the thread!

People who go cruising sucessfully have, I have recently found, only 1 common trait. The absolute independance. No one can tell them what to do. However they may like to tell others what they ought to do!

We just have to filter. I know I say a lot and all my ravings are my opinions. But they are just that: opinions. But with all the ideas and thoughts expressed they other readers may be able to filter all those words into one idea that might help them, or maybe just give them food for thought, like brainstorming, to give them a better answer.

Also I don't normally wiorte back to the original poster only, I write to all those that may read the thread in the future that may have fallen over if from Google et al.

Just filter, Don

There are good bits to learn. I learn from here every day I get to read it

What we would do with a bath tub!

The first hot shower we had since we left Australia in July last year, so 8 months+ was last week when we arrived in Hurgada, Egypt.
None in Indonesia including Bali Marina - they were cold. None in 3 months at a marina in Malaysia, none in Thailand as we were on the pick.

In the 10 days we just did traveling around Egypt all the hotels bar 1 couldnt get hot water into the hotel rooms till we complained/moved etc.

Our first bath since Australia was a hot spring in an Oasis in Egypt 3 days ago. See below.

PS Don, is this a thread drift????????????
