You would wonder why, those kids were a nice easy snack. We must taste like crap. None of the articles knew why we get passed up.

Yes. https://www.scientificamerican.com/a.../killer-whale/

A key to me is, if I understand the Orca in Orlando didn’t feed at all on the trainer, just drug him under and drowned him?
If so, that tells me something.

I remember one of the coolest experiences I had as a young teenager was scuba diving with my dad somewhere around Bimini when a school of some 10-15 hammerhead sharks went swimming on by. 40 years later its still a pretty vivid memory.

I remember the kid that snuck into sea world at night to swim with the whale, tortured him by first eating his genitalia then holding him under and bringing him back up, finally killed the poor kid. Clearly sending a message to the powers that be, highly intelligent

And I think that is an act of an intelligent creature, but do admit that even a dog if mistreated will bite.
I had never heard of the kid being killed, that is upsetting.
I do think that locking these creatures up for years may make them a little insane.
However there must be a reason that the wild ones don’t eat us, we have to be easy prey

I’ve had same experience surfing on east coast of New Zealand. So in NZ orcas feed almost exclusively on stingray. That’s probably what these guys are looking for. In my case I thought a dolphin was swimming to me and when it was about 3ft away I realised it was a baby orca. Turned around and there was about 6 big fins behind me- then they were gone. Over in seconds.

My understanding is different populations eat quite exclusively and humans just don’t register as food. So in New Zealand they eat sting ray in South America seals etc.
