Eagle Chasing Radio-Controlled Airplane off Whidbey

Not really about sailing, but this short video was shot about four miles from where I live. I'm pretty sure it's Mutiny Bay.
The eagle must have thought the RC plane would make a tasty snack!

I was watching a pair of Balds soar above my shop today...they were catching a good thermal as they didn't loose any altitude and dint flap a wing in the 5 min I watched them.

It was very peaceful to watch and the sun just glistened off their heads and tails as they played with each other....Beautiful

Magpies used to chase my RC planes - they get very territorial during nesting season. For some reason they never bothered the helicopters though.

Do any of you guys have any rc planes, helli on board? I was thinking about bringing a sea-plane with me if I have any room left for it. I love flying rc and I've been flying since I was a kid.

Believe me...If they would have just given me the money to do the work it would have been done a LONG time ago...but that's not how it works.

I have felt like a tiger in a cage, pacing for 16 months...

A/C goes in this next week...Mast gets re-stepped on the 20th... so June 1st is looking like a Go!..

Keeping my fingers crossed and my hopes at bay.

I've thought about bringing the heli along, mounting a digital camera on it and seeing if anyone would pay for ariel shots of their boats in nice anchorages.

Anyone think people would?

I'm sure with the quality of pictures we get on digital cameras nowdays it could be a great idea. If you could take pictures of boats under sail now that would be even better, but I think it would be tough to do

Maybe later...

Cruisers have such tight budgets I doubt if they would pay much.

Maybe a three level process.
1) Postcard size with photographers details. To hook 'em in right away. Free!
2) A4 size digital prints/YouTube quality video, for the files, photographers name on back. Say $20 a go.
3) Full set of files on disk including all copyright. For when they're back, the boats been sold and only memories remain. Whatever the market will bear.

Sort of like wedding photos.
