Not really. I would think with a big enough anchor and enough chain rode his home stands just as much a chance of most other folks down there. May loose the topside stuff though. I would not ride out a Hurricane in a house down there let alone a boat so going to the shelter would be par for the course either way.

Exactly. No sensible person rides out a hurricane on a boat.

At Key West, with only one way out you have to "flee" early, too ...

He didn't say why Monroe County considers him homeless, but where I am, if the boat has no way to be moved under its own power (including sail) it's considered derelict if anchored out.

Things are so computerized ... he doen't have a "computer friendly" address. I run into that all the time and I really do have a land based address, but many systems reject it. It's really annoying.

I did help a friend of ours start her lawn mower a few years ago when we were visiting at her house. I was very careful to make sure that the lawn mower did not move when I started it, in order to preserve my record. I have not mowed a lawn since the spring of 1965, but I have scraped away many barnacles. My wife and I have never been referred to as homeless or imagined ourselves to be homeless during our many decades of living aboard.

Of course. I would really like to know how the county came to that conclusion for that man.
