Have not gone to full frame yet. Still using Nikon D-40, D-70 & D-200 a couple of P&S cams and a boat load of lenses from 50 f1.8 to 70-200 f2.8.. Have not bee serious about it in a while, I go through phases...


A prize for anyone who can tell me what yacht designers personal boat this is..

its a different way of thinking over the older film SLRs as now with digital you have to out think the way the unit thinks to make things work..
in this shot I stacked ND filters to allow for a longer shutter speed.. got almost 20 seconds out of this shot with my D2x..

Hi Randy, very nice dew on web shot! Camera's have become so affordable that competition is killing. I don't even try to sell, I think my chances to win a free year of hosting at SmugMug are bigger than earning $10.- and I am lightyears away from winning anything on Dgrin

Here's a dew and web shot that Josie took and I edited in Photoshop CS5. This is an orb weaving spider, mostly called just banana-spider. All the OOF circles are dew drops (better explain it because heavily edited haha)

Took this a couple of weeks ago with my Droid. Used to earn a living for a few years long ago, tough business. Now it's just my Canon point and shoot or my phone. If you please yourself everything else is secondary.

I still use an SLR Vietnam era Richo and a digital Rebel sometime..cant beat digital for simple stuff but the SLR is the way to go for that classic look....DVC

Get several desiccant canisters with silica gel, place equipment regularly when not in use into sealed container, can be tupperware type or I use a pelican box. When the gel turns colour put in very low oven for prescribed time (until it changes back), repeat are necessary. I have done this for over 30 years and never lost a camera or lenses to mold when all around me they were going black. Digital cameras love to be dried out, weather sealing like on the upper end Nikons is to keep some direct water from rain or splashes out not seal out humidity.

I was stuck with the old Olympus E-Volt for many years but recently (6 mo.s or so) upgraded to a Sony A33. I really like it, the digital viewfinder is awesome, amongst other features. I'll post some pics soon, they all go on my wifes laptop.

Welcome Maine Sail! Nice gear, I am trying to stay away from the 50mm primes because there is a f1.2 trying to lure me

I started this thread because I got sick of posting boat project pics you must have the same feeling often as you have plenty project pics too

Keep it coming, I'll reply with a well known design but dunno the answer to your riddle!

Nice shot! I'm still saving for a very dark ND ...

If you get me the full res version of that pic, I think I can improve on the postprocessing and discuss that a bit if you like...

Oh I would love to put up a tripod there! But the boat is a bit bow-down though!

The photo shows some heavy vertical banding though... time for an iPhone 4s
