Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Very pretty tri! I need to unsubscribe from this thread as I bought a monohull but I still get tempted by all these great multis that are sadly in the wrong places sigh, next boat.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Spoke to the owner of the wharram by phone a month ago, but didn't go see it; a nice English lady. Last hauled two years ago for paint, she confirmed by phone no major issues (chain plates, rigging, etc.) or soft spots in the wood, however I didn't inspect it. The major issues for me were obviously the exposed area, and that it had a wheel rather than a tiller so installing an autopilot would have been much more expensive. I don't have my notes or I'd include her exact statements on sails and other major systems.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

This boat may be a Wharrram inspired boat, but it is clear that t is not a Wharram. A Wharram catamaran always has a canoe stern, so never has this kind of stern or rudder. It looks similar to the Pahi series, but the only ones that have similar lenght are the 31 and 42, and they look different.

The Horstman 38/39 Tri-Star Trimaran, has been removed from craigslist so I guess she was sold. Anyone know of a similar boat let me know. I was in Mexico looking at a Norm Cross Tri. and missed this one !

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Dunno if I mentioned this,

but some time ago we were purchasing a sewing machine from a fella in Coden, Alabama (near Bayou le Batre of "Forrest Gump" fame) and there were on his marina property two old trimarans. One was a Crowther of some flavor, and the other (I think) was a Brown?

In either case, these are both projects, but I expect the price would be right. Contact Tom Bowden at DeltaPort Marina, 251.767.3443 who can offer information as to their condition and availability

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Regarding the tri's in Coden AL - Tom sold the marina to the state to become a park and the crowther sold. Not sure what happened to the other (cross around 37-40ft) but I believe it is gone too
