I am looking at buying it. Do you think it's a bad idea? What do you think of it? Would you stay away of it or not?

Without knowing your experience, expertise or plan (no need to share), my most valuable suggestion would be to find a very thorough surveyor to go over it, get a rigger to gover it, and send an oil sample to Blackstone. I’m sure you already plan to, but I just wanted to be sure. It’s not in the hundreds of thousands, but it’s your hard earned money, nonetheless. You don’t want to find rotting core, delamination, cracks in swages, etc... later.
Looking doesn’t cost much.
Good luck

Well, i wouldn't buy it, but thats because of my age, family situation, financial situation and health. Whether YOU should buy it is very different. LeeV has said it really well, and i second his post. Look everything over carefully. Remember that what you see that needs repair is probably only 1/2 or less of what is hidden that needs repair. In other words, there is probably a lot more that need fixing than what you are likely to find in the first inspection. i am more interested in Big Therapy or Ishmael, but i will have to refrain from buying till next year - 2020. i got 20/20 eyesite
jon
edit: and i mite add, make sure its what you REALLY want

The 20/20 was funny! Guess I’ve not had enough sleep....
As for the names, I recognized Ishmael trimaran, but not the other.

Ishmael is the Searunner 37 (you knew that tho) and SV Big Therapy is the Cross 39 located in Florida posted a few back on this thread. i sent him a request for some interior pics. Dunno why there are no interior pics in his craigslist ad. Maybe noone cares about the interior?

My experience (caveat) has almost always been that in an advertisement for sale, areas or items not photographed or revealed were also items with discrepancies, or issues of some kind. E.g., always lift up throw rugs when you go into a house for sale; we found a 2’x2’ patch in a hardwood floor made of mismatched and misstained lumber, covering what used to be a grate in the floor to allow heat to rise from the coal stove in the basement.
Just look at everything...

Ok, now that this thing I is almost free. Anyone have any serious suggestions before I waste my time and jump on a plane to take a look. https://harborshoppers.com/product/2000-robertson-and-caine-leopard-44-cool-running/

Some of those cracks inside resulted from a severe blow to the hull or keel(s). Unlike a daggerboard case(cassette) that can be sealed or even sometimes replaced, in this case the cracks could go all the way through, or maybe only partially through, but to chase them you’d have to cut the boat apart. Yikes.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Chrismck - that is my kind of project. Strange combination of pictures ( diesel jugs, oil suction, etc ) but nothing about the mast sails, etc
Looks like someone tried to patch it up, not sure what the expanded foam is all about. 6500 hrs on the engines but for $17,000 and someone who is not afraid of a serious project, that is a cheap boat. Just understand that selling it down the road may be difficult. Insuring it may also be a challenge . The engines and generator alone are worth more than the asking price.
Be interested in your thoughts after checking it out.
