The ocean winds 33 is an older British catamaran, and could make someone a great liveaboard. typical of the era: low bridgedeck clearance & big cabin. I believe the hulls are glass but the neglected one (different boat) I saw had some core issues in the decks, etc. (I'm guessing balsa but could be wrong).

That said at least one has sailed around the world. If you're willing to do a refit / rebuild, and this type of cat works for you, it could even be a decent sailing boat, just not upwind.. If it has 2 good diesels the price might not be too bad!

I don't think it is a scam or a fishy deal or anything. Just an owner willing to finance the sale to appeal to a broader market.

That Ocean Winds has been on the market for years, but now at a more realistic price.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I've driven past the Trimaran in Peabody almost everyday for the last 30 years. I've always wondered how they were planning on getting it out of the yard without cutting it into pieces . I don't think it will fit down any of the roadways either.
Shut down Rt. 128 all the way to Gloucester .?

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

There is about $6k of chainsaw work and tree removal followed by a tricky crane lift onto a trailer and then trucked with a police escort after midnight to the water. All the details have been worked out but it will cost about $25k. Carl, a relative of the builder. is a great guy and hopes the boat can be completed.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Power lines to lift it over as weell by the looks. Not an easy job and need a tall crane.
But Rt 128 to Danvers and Bunkys Marina looks to be the shortest route to water.

The first photo of that ad is of Seafire, which was built in Seattle in the seventies and is over 40 feet.

contour 30 mkii has a daggerboard/trunk in front of the mast. You can see the trunk (looks like just a mast support post) in one of the interior photos.

Thanks! I thought that's what the structure was but couldn't find anything on the net on it.
