Hi, Sailorman...I see a Poynesian 40 for sale...is it yours??? How do you find the performance? Guessing a bit sluggish...but probably ok for carib trades...

Hi,
I have acquired a prout 35. As of now, I am refitting the steering system by converting it to hydraulic steering. As the boat was already undergoing a major refit, i didn't get the chance to see the original steering box. I have read that you happen to own a similar snowgoose. Would you mind send me some pictures of the original setting? Thanks!

Unit is at over 10 years old and the factory has already changed out batteries once already. Apparentely it can no longer be replaced my any certified tech. There are threads on Cruisers Forum where you can see how to change them yourself. Model is ACR Global Fix. I know nothing else about doing this. If nothing else this is good deal for someone making a crossing before the end of this year.
Cheers,
Will

Hi Ed:
Tnx for the reply and the information on EPIRB batteries. My Seimac unit is an older one (2002) and the battery was integral to the plastic, screw-on base (potted in epoxy maybe?). The company seems to have gone out of the business. The EPIRB tests fine and I'm sure it would work well for some period of time. It was designed to
operate for 48 hours after deployment. The costs have come down so much it's not
much more expensive to replace it than it was to replace the battery. Looks like a
new ACR for me.
