Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

The woodwork is particularly striking in that boat. Seemed to have a tasted for highly figured wood, even on the cabin sole boards.

Crealock 37 listed for $22k. From the ad: "This is a project world cruiser; but is also a running, sailing, reliable, structurally sound, sought after vessel - ready for local sailing. "

Looks like a lot of work has been done since 2020, and it's effectively a Pacific Seacraft.

Man!!!...that boat really speaks to me. I can tell the wood is custom selected. I cannot find any info on Mediterranean Yachts.

These are very attractive boats, I've seen one that was fully restored (leaky teak decks removed and glassed over) and it was beautiful.

Typical problems on these Taiwanese boats now they are 45 years old: leaking deck, leaking cap rails, leaking hatches (rebuild required), rotting deck and cabin top core, leaking cockpit forward bulkhead...

Electrical looks new and good stuff.
It looks like they are replacing the port lights. There's a few thousand $.

The engine is reasonably new, this might be worth buying. Still a lot of work & money to go....

"Cash deal only, no scammers"? For $1?

Presumably the expensive part is finding somewhere to fix it up, or paying for trucking to somewhere cheaper?

"1979 Union PolarisWhistlin Rigging has voyaged far and wide in her time and was well loved by her previous owners. But time and age can take their toll on the best of us, and Whistlin Rigging is no exception. Her current owners, though, have done their utmost to begin turning back the hands of time."

Ya, some slick Willie Yacht Broker is trying to down play the work ahead. You'll notice in the pictures a pile of coring and fiber-glass cloth. Hmmm, I wonder where that is needed...maybe under those teak decks.

I have replaced core before...no fun job!

Ah, a diamond in the rough it seems to me too! But it does say it has a good engine. No mention of sails though.

You forgot the "soft stainless" that I have been told has been a corrosion problem.

OK, "needs some work before it can sail" but it looks like a lotta boat for $7,500.

For you lovers of Formosa ketches out there, here is another one:

$10K OBO. This one even has a windvane (or at least part of one) although with a non-starting engine and "condition of sails unknown" it might be hard to take it home.
