Spithill is Australian and of course Barker is a Kiwi....so it makes it a great New Zealand-Australian rivalry as well.

Full credit to the Kiwis (honestly!), but give credit to some USA input too: Ellison owns Core Builders Composites. It started in the USA (Anacortes, WA), and built Ellison/Oracle's previous AC boats. They then set up the company in NZ. Here's a link.

And TNZ's design team is Morelli and Melvin from the USA.

Spithill is a permanent US resident (California) with a US wife and daughter.

Why do you think US won so soundly after losing so soundly? Bunch of threads going, is this already bring discussed? Seems like there is a story here...

Two words "Ben" and "Ainsley". Crazy how little dinghies and Frankenboats both bend to the same genius. A little glory to the UK here, too.
