Re: Missing Lyle Hess Cutter
Doesn't matter if its a lover's tiff or an outright theft. The legal owner of the boat is looking for her boat, which has been stolen. Its not up to us to decide the why's and what for's, the courts will handle that. We were asked to help locate it and that seems straight forward enough.

Re: Missing Lyle Hess Cutter
Fair call, and when I go up to the marinas in Brisbane next week I shall still keep an eye out for the boat, regardless of the true story.
Coops.

Pretty hard to hide or even disguise a vessel like this. It would stand out both in a crowded and a remote anchorage.
Coastwatch keep a pretty good track of vessels offshore once you get north of the tropical line so would be hard to spend much time sailing around northern Australia.
Any chance of the thief doing a dash to NZ, seems to my inexperienced eye it might be possible to loose something like this around Auckland?

My vote would be the Bay of Islands... to many cops around Auckland

New Zealand? No one in their right mind would take it there!
Everyone would think its Lin and Larry Pardy and be forever knocking on the hull for recipes from Lin and paint brushes from Larry!
If I had stolen it I'd take it straight to a junk yard and light 'er up!

Re: Missing Lyle Hess Cutter
It is easier to have a private investigator locate the guy as he will leave a trail and then you can find the boat. Or at least have a trail to follow and file charges and put the thief in jail. I bet it has been sold and it is living at a different port.
After you locate him, let me have a few minutes with him and you will have your answers. In anycase, you would get your boat back unless he sunk it. Have a good one!

You going to waterboard this person, or just break a few fingers? Perhaps you have some new method? I would rather drag you by your scrotum across a coral reef, that would be fun too.

Re: Missing Lyle Hess Cutter
You guys need to lighten up- its just a boat. One that can be replaced. Maiming each other isn't going to help anyone.
Whenever I hear of someone stealing sailboats, I think of the couple that stole a cat out of UK, and died of dehydration after the engine ran out of gas in the Atlantic. Were a small bunch as sailors, and the thief will be found.

Boats don't sell that fast... and I doubt it was stolen to order...

Re: Missing Lyle Hess Cutter
Thanks to everyone for the humorous helpful and plain I read it I care remarks
Coops I understand what you are getting at, and I am planning to elaborate.
This is the story . Jan Murray Purchased Tuska in 1989 with Australian Rego, as she had been offshore before. During the next couple of years she met Michel Griffith who it now appears sailed of with Tuska .Their relationship progressed and they also. Unexceptionable the tale involves love friendship and ultimately betrayal. A lovers Tiff No Way. Their lives have always been worlds apart Michel a shipwright and a recovered heroine addict, Jan shall we say successful. The facts are Jan owns 100% of Tuska and has given Michel the luxury of looking after her vessel while living aboard . Yes Michel may indeed deem to think he has some portion of a legal claim to Tuska that is not for us to decide but Jan or else the courts. Unfortunately when he received his last prognosis from the Tweed Heads hospital and told to get his affairs in order he appears to have done anything but that. Jan has always been more than transparent with me and I don't doubt her word for a minute. The last word I received from Jan is that she has managed to contact Michel and according to him he has sold Tuska in Queensland and is traveling north in a camper. Coops if you are traveling to Brisbane I sure would appreciate your help, as would Jan. Anyone around the Bribie Island, Tin Can, Maryborough to Harvey Bay area would also be great. Thanks guys and gals if there are any Cheers Tom

Re: Missing Lyle Hess Cutter
Thank you for that Tom. I will certainly keep my eye out for the boat as no doubt will others on here. Must have sold it cheaply to have unloaded it so quickly. Shows how easy it is to sell a boat that you do not own.
Coops.
