Actually wiggling fingers in the water works... seen it in action..
Was anchored off Praia de Vitoria in Terceira, Azores and a lady crew member saw a pretty fish nibbling the algae on the scoop..
She went and sat down then started teasing the fish which then started swimming up and bumping her fingers.. I turned away to carry on what I was doing then heard a scream..
The lady was standing up shaking her hand trying to dislodge the 6" fish that had latched onto her little finger.. Hilarious..
Moral of the story.. Don't mess with someone else's algae bowl..

Jose Salvador Alvarenga 24 foot boat was not even close to being a production boat.
Looks like a glass over wood work skiff.

I guess the moral of that story is... If you're going over the side to catch fish... be careful what you're wigglin'....

Yes...it can be dangerous if the fish is a little larger.

No, the moral is be careful what you are wiggling in general. After all I believe blow-fish are dangerous to eat.

No nakid swimmin' for SaltyMonkey. My danglin' bits can be seen for miles.

Scuba-diving, fishes would go for the dangling straps on my gloves.

Anything that moves is free game.

And then there's the other extreme of the bits scaring off the fish too...

I wonder what happened to his fishing gear. They must have started out with some?

Re: Man Washes up in Marshall Islands 'After 16 Months Adrift'

Ezequiel Cordoba, 24 year old fisherman who starved to death and was thrown overboard by castaway who claimed he survived for 14 months adrift at sea as former boss says his 'story doesn't match up'

1) Ezequiel Cordoba, 24, set off for a shark fishing trip from Costa Azul, Mexico, with Jose Alvarenga, 38, in late 2012

2) But after four months adrift, Cordoba couldn't stomach the diet of raw fish, turtle's blood and birds and died of starvation, according to Alvarenga

3) Alvarenga threw the body overboard

4) Alvarenga incredibly washed up alive after 14 months on a remote Pacific atoll, 6,500 miles away from their home

5) Doctors told MailOnline that if he did spend that length of time on the boat he is a 'walking medical miracle'

6) His former boss said: 'It was a great surprise that he survived for so long in those conditions'

7) Alvarenga remains in a hotel awaiting a flight back to Mexico

8) Skeptics are questioning whether his broken-down boat could have traveled that far in the time frame

9) Discrepancies in names of those who went missing on official report

10 But officials have 'given up' trying to verify the dates of his story

Re: Man Washes up in Marshall Islands 'After 16 Months Adrift'

Wiggling does work surprisingly well especially where the ocean is a desert. What I am trying to figure out is how he warded off the infection surely to follow the cuts and scrapes if mouthed by a fish with even micro teeth. Most if not all pelagic species are powerfully aggressive. I wonder of the medicinal properties of sea turtle blood.
