Re: FREE, or close to free!

Does one need to register these boats somewhere in US or simply the exchange of money is enough?

Start a new thread, give more details of your situation, where you want to take them etc

Good idea. I have no clue on transfers, but knowing how things are here you need to register it so that taxman can get his chunk of the action.

Are you talking about boats purchased in the states, or one from overseas? I thought I had seen a thread started by a broker about registration options like where to register for both registration and tax savings reasons. I'll see if I can find that thread again.

America. Most of the boats I liked were in the 1000 price range or free.

Considering I go to America sometimes, I thought "Well I could buy one of these boats" and it would be like buying a bicycle or a book in craigslist. However, if it is more complicated than that it wont be worth it. I just want to exchange money, no paperwork.

edit: I will start a thread in some days as suggested.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Nice little San Juan 26, 9.9 Johnson sailmaster o/b w electric starting 1500

This would be a cool little boat to sail around. The outboard setup looks nice at the price.

License and titling laws change from state to state. In Wisconsin I understand things to be easy; in Illinois it seems needlessly complicated. Missouri requires outboard motors to be registered. Where do you go in America?

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Colorado I believe you can register remotely, no need to go there.

But really, start a clean thread, it's easy, and Free!

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Could be a good deal... hard to tell. I think this is one you need to see in person to know.
