Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia after Ad26.COV2.S Vaccination — Response from the Manufacturer

The vaccine manufacturer's comments follow the Tuesday decision by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to call for a pause in the rollout of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine amid six blood clot cases. Every state has since suspended Johnson & Johnson vaccinations, and the company has halted clinical trials.

The six documented cases, out of the more than 6.8 million that received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the U.S., involved cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) and low blood-platelet counts, leading to one death.

Moderna and Pfizer shots have clotting problems too. Why is J&J catching all the flak?

The video did come through. It is funny. It's just that the thread page got really wide. Will be interesting to see if it gets narrow again on the next page. It is either a glitch or it got sabotaged.

COVID vaccines and blood clots: five key questions

As safety concerns delay the use of the Johnson & Johnson, and Oxford–AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, 'Nature' looks at the questions that scientists want answered.
These include what the connection is, between blood clots and the vaccines, and whether that link exists with other vaccines. Scientists are also trying to pin down exactly how rare the condition is, and who is most at risk.

Decent overview of the current investigations into the rare clotting issues. (covering much the same info as Gord's link)

Re: Covid vaccination status for CF members

Thanks Gord, Nature has a history of publishing good reviews. During my tenure working in acute care hospitals, part of our drug use process was evaluating medication-related adverse events (AE) on a quarterly basis. Based upon the information available in the patient's chart and the published data on the medication, in addition to previous findings from past quarterly evaluations a select committee of physicians/pharmacists/nurses would attempt to rank the cause & effect relationship of the suspect drug & the AE. Devilishly difficult task, many times. The true "gold standard" for determining a causal relationship was to re-challenge the patient with the suspect drug. As you would assume, this rarely if ever occurred secondary to ethical considerations. Only done if no other alternative available and potential benefit greater than the risk. The committee's findings would then be included in hospital-wide newsletter alerting staff of potential AEs and reminders of known, drug-related AEs.

Re: Covid vaccination status for CF members

A new variant has just appeared in Texas. Texas A&M researchers just reported:

Scientists at the Texas A&M University Global Health Research Complex (GHRC) have identified a variant of the COVID-19 virus — “BV-1” — that could present a new challenge to public health.

“We do not at present know the full significance of this variant, but it has a combination of mutations similar to other internationally notifiable variants of concern. This variant combines genetic markers separately associated with rapid spread, severe disease and high resistance to neutralizing antibodies.”

What happens next? The problem is, that with variants, no one knows.

Wish some more people would get vaccinated to help cut down on these.

Found in only one person who only suffered cold like symptoms. Fear mongering.

You mean these fear mongering articles. Yes, I agree that if more people accepted the experimental gene therapies that they are calling vaccines that it would cut down on these fear mongering news stories. One person in Texas with a minor cold! Get vaccinated!

The variants and mutations are caused by the vaccinations, it is the escape strategy of mother nature. The more vaccinated people, the faster the mutations of the virus.

Like the heads of Medusa, you cut one off, five new grow.

Re: Covid vaccination status for CF members

A quick roundup of today's top stories in the UK:

At least 100 people are trying to enter the country each day with a "fake Covid certificate", MPs have heard, as documentation is easy to forge.

The Prime Minister warned that the UK cannot "delude ourselves" into thinking that the threat of coronavirus has disappeared, as infections surge to new heights internationally. More than 5.2 million cases, a record, were reported last week.

The PM also unveiled a new government antivirals taskforce to help identify new treatments for Covid-19. The aim is to have a tablet ready by autumn that can be taken at home to prevent severe disease.
