Someone who knows these things said it is the size of Europe. A storm that big, even if Cat 1, is a hard hitter.
The rain started here a few hours ago. Should continue to get worse for a long time before it gets really bad. I am ready to go out in the aftermath; I bought new socks so my feet will be real happy when I am out and about in the damage. And I bought a new "disaster jacket" so I will look sharp and pretty too. Don't want to look bad when working with people affected by the storm.

Reminder to those affected by the storm, shelters are good places to go for a berth, shower and food.

Town dock.com shows pictured of water half way up stop signs. I think the water may be up 7 feet or more but I've got no eyes on ground. The local tv station streaming live on net, sorry can't remember channel and at daughters soccer game. Any reports from oriental pamlico county appreciated, paticularky when road clear. I don't think they have any power, phone or cable but hopefully someone with smartphone will check in. Good luck to all fellow pamlico sound fleet and everyone up the coast. She's big And persistent. Glad tide went out.

TownDock.net | Oriental NC News, Weather & Photos

Take a scroll down to the left and click on pics after the Hurricane. Three foot of water in some places but all in all it looks like they weathered it pretty well.

Thank You Jesus!

Re: Paging Hurricane Irene . . .

People in New York are complaining that the storm wasn't as bad as predicted. WTF ! I say we move them in front of the next storm so they can both see what a Hurricane is really like and be a buffer for the rest of us that don't ever want to see another one?
