Sorry for the delay... just saw this thread again.

Yup, and it's already there in the last update. It takes 0183 APB, RMB, XTE, BOD, BWW, and RMB sentences and translates them into these NMEA 2000 PGN's:

129283 Cross Track Error
192284 Navigation Data
129285 Route/WP Information

Here's a link to a doc with the latest info:

Sweet!

So I can input a waypoint in my Garmin 0183, or OpenCPN and Vesper will translate the course to steer to NMEA 2000 for my AP to steer!!

I love you guys. You have to be crazy to buy any other product.

Thanks

Re: Vesper Marine AIS

Jeff,
I'm not getting my Raymarine DPT reading. Rest of Raymarine data like AWA AWS HDG...are ok as seen on the photo. Is it a problem with the new upgrade? My instrument display were all reading ok.
Sharks! cannot upload photo.

Re: Vesper Marine AIS Vision

Where do I start,
I have a Furuno navnetVX2 system with a 7in Screen and a BB unit below decks.
I have a seperate AIS that works on a laptop but I find that unusable and annoying.
My yacht is 50Ft and I want to install a Vesper AIS vision, I have a 4 port router for the Furuno gear and would like to connect the Vision and Furuno
is that possible without Furuno software,
Cheers
David

It has been pretty seamless between my Vesper XB-8000 and my Furuno NavNetVX2. I didn't have to do anything except connect them. Of course, you may not have some of the special features such as anchor alarms on the Furuno. I haven't checked that out. But targets are there along with target speed and course.

Re: Vesper Marine AIS

I just downloaded the latest VM software for the XB-8000

it mentions a few new features among which SmartAIS and some kind of MOB assistance / alert ?

I could not find any new release info or how to set up the new features, does someone have a link to a new usermanual with regards to these new features ?
thanks

I am looking for instructions on how to set up the XB-8000 to look for specific MMSI's (my MOB's)

They all have the same MMSI (same as the ships MMSI so also the same as the MMSI in the xb-8000) and I wondered how to set up the XB-8000 to only look for the MOB's with specific MMSI's to sound the alarm

Jeff, I did the firmware update and the DPT is now showing. Thank You !
Btw i find the update version numbering a little confusing. I had to do the Update twice 'cos I thought I got wrong version. In the download version was mentioned as 3.2.15... but when I did the Update on XB8000 it shows version 3.02.15.....
There's a leading "0" in XB8000. Not a big deal but had to check and recheck...
Nevertheless all is good Love the breadcrumbs
THANK YOU !!

Do you mean that you want to ignore any other MOB alerts? It is law that you must render assistance to those as well.
It is my understanding that any AIS MOB signal will trigger an alert?

Re: Vesper Marine AIS

For generating alarms it would be so nice if the Vesper can generate N2K alarm messages understood by the Maretron ALM100 alarm module even before the NMEA standards for alarm messages are implemented! Is there any chance of these two companies cooperating to make this happen?

I want to understand how it works , and whether or not I need to do something in the settings , or does it indeed pick up all MOB AIS signals so I dont have to do anything ?

The AIS MOB gadget sends AIS messages that say this isn't a boat but a MOB. Older plotters that don't know his message type show the MOB as just another AIS target, but all the modern gear recognizes this and generate the alarms. You get alarms for all MOBs just as other passing boats also get the alarm for the MOB from your crew.

Re: Vesper Marine AIS

I am trying to get 10HZ NMEA0183 fast heading data from my Raymarine S3G autopilot onto my NMEA2000 bus using the VesperXB-8000.

I have the NMEA0183 heading fed to the XB-8000 NMEA input, and see it come out the USB port.

However, my Navico RADAR is not seeing the heading data on the NMEA2000 bus.

Should this work ? Is there some setting I might need to change ?

Sample sentence:

$APHDM,120.0,M*30<0x0D><0x0A>

Yes, this should work. The XB-8000 translates this to PGN 127250. So a few things to check... make sure your XB-8000 firmware is up-to-date as this support was added in an earlier update. Check that the radar uses this PGN. And finally check that the PGN output is enabled in vmAIS. The default is enabled but maybe that got switched off.
