Sorry Trans, but RF is a long, long way along the EM spectrum from visible light... Your second paragraph is the direct opposite of what I said. Facts sure are inconvenient.

Garmin HD 18. I don't know the age, it was on the boat when I bought it.

Radar waves safe for humans?

Years ago I remember cases of Police officers getting cancer from their Radar guns, they would put them in their lap when not actually using them to clock traffic speeds, and apparently even though the trigger wasn't pulled, they were still emitting some RF, or at least that is what I remember, so I did a google search and came up with this, seems authentic to me.

Bottom line, why take the chance, when you don't have to? Mount the thing so that you are out of the "beam"

Well in heavy weather it's so cosy and warm in front of the beam - you can save a lot on grog. You have the "outdoor microwave" on your mast anyway on...
