there is a warning that boat configuration will get overwritten but that is definitely not sufficient warning that all historic efforts will be wiped out!!!
Frustrated.

Re: Weather Routing
Very sorry Skipperearly about that. What would you suggest we use as a warning?
"Backup your configuration before proceeding with overwrite?" We will try to make those changes.
"...warning that boat configuration will get overwritten" - How to make this clearer?
Regarding the
Quote:
1) enable position input via curser on map canvas
- Right click on the position and create a Weather Position and name it?
Doesnt it already and always have this?
Well, I can move the boat there and then drop the boat position but just simply open the dialog for new position and then point on the canvas on a location does not enter the lat/lon in the dialog or generate the location in the main WR dialog. Am I missing something there?

I believe the manual says to right click on the position (with Weather_routing active) and select "Weather_route Position in the pop up menu.

Ideally keep the existing routes and positions and convert them to a new format if necessary. Or a simple script to backup and restore the configuration.
Anyhow I dont expect these changes to happen very frequently

Mea culpa - sorry, dont know why but I had tried this and somehow never saw the "weather_route Position" - my fault - sorry for the trouble.

% and time! - this would help to calculate e.g. engine hrs
Would value also an user configurable (column selection) route-book
- time steps eg 10min, 30min, 1 hr, 3 hrs etc
- different background color for stb/bb
- pos
- "what ever data are avail in grib (e.g. TWS TWA, wave, pressure etc
- bearing / distance to next waypoint
- tidal / current data (if available)
- sail config (which polar file used)
- time
- option to save the route book so various calculations could be compared.
Maybe I ask too much - but had used qtVlm and found this information extremely useful (and when printed out a great backup in case of power loss)

Re: Weather Routing
% or time, or both would work, yes! How do we submit a feature request?

Re: Weather Routing
Satchel
Do you have a screenshot of what you are talking about?
Find Tracker in opencp.org head menu and register and please create a new feature request under weatherrouting_pi project.
And list there each item carefully and completely so the programmers can understand what you are looking for.
Also reference with a link your CF posts and then vote for it!

Re: Weather Routing
Image mockup attached below!
Doesn't seem like the account creation function on Opencpn.org is working, any advice?

Only complication with this I see is that if within the time interval several polars are used. Solution could be to force specific time show per polar or average within the interval.
Maybe I can encourage other users now to elaborate, add and vote to get things moving
PS had raised this tracker tasks already 2018 and again 2019 and have somehow lost faith in the effectiveness of flyspray

Re: Weather Routing
I too would like to see some of these things improved, but why should I have to remind you that Opencpn and Plugins are OpenSource, and powered and improved only by Users (testing, writing, editing) and Programmers (programming) and all contributing. It is free open source software.
Thank you for presenting the ideas and requests for improvement and enhancement. I hope you have voted for them and try to get others to vote. Plugins are improved by the authors and contributing programmers.
FS #2361 show which grib file is used for calculation
FS #2354 export routing - weatherroute logbook
Also Post https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3589681
If you don't put it into tracker, your request will be lost.

Re: Weather Routing
PS: Currently we do not have any programmers working on Weather_routing because Sean is busy with Pypilot. It would be wonderful if someone would commit to some needed improvements.
