Updating Open CPN to 5.0

Updating from any O version 4 to 5.0 works fine. Just update using old settings. That's default.
On Windows or what?

You could ghost your drive before updating. It basically copies your entire drive to a backup that can be restored after, in case things get messed up and you are unable to recover.

Hi - when I updated Open CPN to vers 5.0.0, I seem to have lost my 'install permit' for S63 charts, and the system is asking for it - I have all the other permits, and a footprint file - but my install permit disappeared. I've asked o-charts for assistance, and I've not received a reply.

How do I go about getting the install permit for my current user permit back so I can see my S63 Australian hydrographer charts?

Do I need to pay O-charts for a new userpermit and ask O-charts to give me a new install permit, then get my chart supplier (boat books Australia) to update the charts i get (and have paid a subscription for) to reflect my new user permit number? If I'd have known this would happen, I'd have not updated my Open CPN software version. Any help much appreciated.

Is your S-63 plug-in present (and as well updated)?
Do you see the S-63 tab under Options|Charts?


In case this is not the reason, what is your operating system?
If that has changed you might need a new OCPN InstallPermit.
Your cell permits received from AHS will be ok.

It's all working now - I had to go onto the O-Chart web site and generate a replacement 'installpermit'. Luckily, they had my 'userpermit' on file from when I bought it 3 years ago.

This does mean that your Operating system changed. Windows I suppose?
W10 automatic updates can cause "change of personality" in some cases. A low 1 digit percentage.
