Who knows what is going on, and can help?

I believe it may be running out of memory? During development there was discussion and programming done to improve speed and memory management.

May I suggest that you try Dashboard-Tactics by Petri, instead. He has done an incredible amount of testing extensions and was very helpful improving Tactics.

Please find it in the wiki there is a complete manual with all the links. I do not know if it has been used with RPI.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hmmmm. Not sure about this.

I admit, I have been using Dash_T for a long time, but this seems a step back. There was oddness on the install. It installed, then asked me to upgrade. It just doesn't seem as polished as Dash_T -- and it doesn't let me choose between ºC and ºF, which is something Petri was nice enough to add to Dash_T for me.

As per the operation, the icon doesn't show on Mac. I seem the Bearing compass flashing, which is odd. I think this needs some work before its ready to make the leap.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hi

I don't find tactics being managed by plugin manager (W10/OPCPN 5.2) ...?
I installed tactics with OCPN 5.0, it works as is with OCPN 5.2 but does not appeared to be managed by plugin manager.
I noticed that some datas are missing if using a SignalK connection while these data are present with NMEA0183 (converted to NMEA0183 on the same signalK server)

Thanks for your feedback.

"It installed, then asked me to upgrade. It just doesn't seem as polished as Dash_T -- "

This is normal when "import plugin" is used.

This does need some cleanups, but I find it works quite well in win. It is Thomas' venerable program, which Petri has augmented in DashT. So you will notice differences.

No it is beta and not in master catalog.
Download tarball as stated. Then instal tarball using "import plugin". The 50 version is similar, but different.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hi for your information,

I updated the same way a Ubuntu 20.04 system.
It seems to work ok with NMEA0183 connection. Thanks again.
But it doesn't work with the new signalK network connection (same server as NMEA0183)
and the tactics menu bar icon is a kind of "green puzzle piece" instead of being the usual proper icon ...

Re: Tactics Plugin

Juancho, thanks for the info, trial and issue. I have the green puzzle too and need to fix that before release.
This plugin does nothing with signal k
that is a petri dashboardT improvement!

BTW Thomas and Petri worked closely so that all instrument improvements were included in ta tactics, so it has similar accuracy/fixes etc. however it does not have signalk, the database or the subsequent development improvements of dashboard-tactics.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Somewhere along the way, the attitude sentence doesn't seem to be translating in tactics. It had been working (in Dash_T) at least. Installed the new version of Tactics to see that "Heel" isn't being displayed (Pitch is), but the data is there.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Steve, can you attach a vdr file with heel in it, so I can try it?
I am pretty sure it is almost identical to the dashT released version (not the development version), for this instrument.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Steve, Thanks, will try t with petri's change. BTW just saw a Github commit on Petri's [canne] github for tactics_pi which makes an adjustment. Very good of him to notice and respond. I will try to move the change into my repository for tactics too.

His note:
Quote:
Hi @rgleason - FYI - no, the endless pit of manufacturer's freely invented identifiers for XDR arguments - in this case "HEEL" and not "ROLL" has not been back-ported from DashT to tactics_pi. This is the way I did it in DashT. There seems to be an issue in appveyor not getting NSIS and it fails (one more reason to go out of it) but I checked the build on my VS 2019 before this commit.
Cheers,
Petri
See feat: accept XDR HEEL argument
Thank you Petri!

Re: Tactics Plugin

Thanks Rick.

If you can confirm, my understanding is there are no current plans to port Dash_T to the new plugin manager?

I really appreciate what Tactics does separately to Dashboard. Obviously, powerboats won't have the need for tactics, so the separate package works for others, but I prefer it all to be in one cohesive package that Dash_T provides -- also because Petri was nice enough to add a Temperature (ºC/ºF) selector into the plugin for me that hasn't yet been added into Dashboard. (Thanks Petri!!!).

That's how I discovered the "roll" issue with Tactics, I've reinstalled it with the Plugin Manager, as Dash_T and TwoCan are the only two plugins left that aren't "managed" in my set up.
