Hello all / Hi guys
Apologize again my poor english (and thanks to gg trad)

I ran an RPi with Raspbian "Stretch", now, i upgrade to Raspbian "Buster"
Some plugin has dissapeared, and, more serious, Tactics crash !

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hello
I have just started to use tactics plugin, it seems to be great
If someone of you like a feature request to improve I would like a start timer. B&G has a very nice function where you add 2 waypoints for starter markers and then the plotter keep track of the front of the boat and start timer so you know exactly when to start sail

Re: Tactics Plugin

Magnus,

check out this racing plugin by Stevead, it is a stand-alone plugin but, judged by a non-sailor like myself, could eventually prove useful:

Re: Tactics Plugin

Thanks Lennart, It seems to be exactly what I am looking for
Unfortunately, I am not experienced enough to build and install from github
I have tried but just get a lot of error messages
Is it someone who can give step by step for dummies?
Ubuntu 20.04

Re: Tactics Plugin

Did a fork of stevead's RacingPlugin.

Windows release is here:
https://github.com/Rasbats/RacingPlu...eases/tag/v1.0

Steve ... do you want me to make a MacOSX version? Might be worth making a thread for this plugin?

Re: Tactics Plugin

kirribilli47,
assuming your compile tools are correctly installed these steps may do the trick for you, anybody correct me if I'm wrong. Are using another version and kernel so I can not do it for you:
You have obviously managed to download and (at least partially) compile it so here we go:
Copy everything to '/usr/local/src' and extract it there, then this is the standard procedure:

sudo su
cd /usr/local/src/<extracted library>
mkdir build
cd build
cmake ..
cmake --build . --config release
cpack

You may get a number of warning messages but there should not be any show-stopper. You may now leave su using 'exit'.

Go to /usr/local/src/<extracted library>/build, you shall find a .deb-file that can be installed using 'sudo apt-get install <filename>.deb'

Hi Mike,

That would be very kind of you. I have no idea how much, if any, interest there is in what could only be termed the most basic of plugins.

BTW, Thanks once again for your help in the MacOSX version of TwoCan.

And apologies to all for the hijacking of this thread.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Please start a new thread named Racing Plugin and put your posts there. These posts contaminate the Tactics Thread and will confuse users. Thank you.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hi y'all,

I am starting with OpenCPN on an RPI. I built a rather serieus computer/plotter around it. For who's interested, the entire development process is described on this Dutch forum:

https://zeilersforum.nl/index.php/forum-hoofdmenu-37/raspberry-pi-arduino-etcetera/586581-rpi-als-boordcomputer?start=%1$d

Right, my problem/question:

I have the tactics plugin installed and let the windhistory plot. After some time (a few hours), for some reason the tactics plugin looses contact with the NMEA wind data.

Sometimes closing and re-opening the Windhistory window helps, sometimes I need to restart OpenCPN.

Who knows what is going on, and can help?
